windows wont to roll down sometimes?

I recently purchased my 97 viper and the car is great in all aspects but there is one very annoying problem.

the windows dont roll down unless I push the switches down with all my might. a normal tap doesnt get them to roll down at all. I really have to hold down the switches hard or tap them like crazy. the odd thing is that they roll up just fine most of the time.

I probably have to get the switches swapped out, but I was wondering if this was a common switch problem or if it was something else possibly.

anyone had similar issues?

I dont want to misdiagnose this and spend a few hundred bucks on a new switch if I dont need to.

thanks

That is because your switch is a piece of shit like mine. I took the switch out of my car, dissassembled it, and cleaned the contacts. This worked for 3 months. I went ahead and purchased another switch and cured the problem for good.

thanks for the reply.

I took the switch apart but found my contacts were clean.

so I finally figured out why these switches go bad. the thin metal strips inside go soft from flexing back & forth over time.

I bent all of them back up so they made good contact and VOILA. they all work great again.

hope this helps anyone else that runs into this in the future. its probably why they redesigned the switches in 98+ cars.
