Yes, the car has the original Michelin MXX tires. What do people usually replace the stockers with, Michelin PS2s?
I ask because your hood is sitting just a tad higher than your front bumper. Notice that you can see the notch on the drivers side near the headlight where the 2nd release handle is. That's very common for Vipers that have had their front bumper removed and reinstalled without the necessary shims to ensure the bumper sits high enough to prevent that from happening (this is the case with my car right now.)
You may just need to adjust your hood stops down a tad.
And as stated, you should replace those tires...9 years old means the oils are gone from the rubber and they're probably starting to develop small cracks in between the tread blocks. Dangerous condition for a car with this much power.

Howdy!
My '97 looks just like yours!!
I had the problem with having 10 year old tires with lots of rubber left. Enough people, smarted than me, convinced me to get some PS2's. It was a hard pill to swallow since the tires looked fine, however the thought of failing rubber at speed makes the investment (and peace of mind) worth it!!
Very nice! I've got the same car with a few mods. Agree with the others regarding the tires. Got rid of mine when they were 4 years old with only 7K miles. Took the opportunity to go to 18" wheels with new Pilots and traction was much better with the new rubber. Planning any mods?

She's a beauty though...enjoy her!
I have the same problem here. Does anyone know where to find detailed instructions on how to fix this? I have 3/4" between the hood and the bumper to the outer side of the headlights.
I am convinced that I need a new set of tires! I talked to Jon at Parts Rack and he said the Kumhos are discontinued. I am going to be ordering a set of Michelin PS2s. I am also going to change the coolant, brake fluid, tranny fluid and plugs/wires.
As far as modifications go, I am going to keep it pretty simple. I was planning on picking up a set of tubes/filters and exhaust/cats. I have only been able to find a few sound clips of after market exhausts and cant make a decision. Ultimately, I know it is best to hear each one in person but due to the time of year "winter" and lack of Vipers in the area I won't be able to do that. Corsa, B&B, Borla anyone care to recommend a setup
Paint is all original on the car. I believe the emblem may look like that because I need to adjust the hood just a tad. BTW I am from Pittsburgh, PA.
Here are a few more pics I took int he daylight with my VR4...
