Smile Looking for a built Gen II motor.

Hey all, first post, I own FE #71 and had a paxton put on it with T&D's and push rods. Well I let a tuner get hold of it and he leaned it out to much and I melted two pistons. I took it back to Bobby Archer, Not the tuner that fried it and he has had it for 9 month now. I am ready to just put in another motor in the dam thing. I have two other vipers so it has not been that bad for me (well 1 1/2, 2003 SRT and a 2005 Quad). I am just looking for a replacement motor at this point. Any one out there have any ideas, thanks Joel

Call Arrow Racing in Rochester Hills, MI (1-248-852-5151) , talk to Todd or Wayne, then let us know! They do all the work for dodge on these engines; (warranty and non-warranty work.)

Just have a good Viper shop re-build your motor. Check with these guys. They do good work and are near Austin/San Antonio.

Jason at RSI will most likely be doing the rebuild on mine if I can get the parts back from Bobby Archer anytime soon. I saw two complete motors on VCA.org , one was a rebuild by Arrow with forged pistons for 13.5K, claims 540 HP/600 TQ and the other was a race motor from Albert Box (Fat Albert Motorsports) Claims 1000 HP for 40K. ANyone know anything about Albert Box, 1000K from a normally asperated motor seems to be a stretch.

I bet that FA Motorsports engine is capable of up to 1000, but doubt it would be a N/A engine. I believe TXWYD's engine is the stongest N/A engine (from Linginfelter) at 850 or so and he has serious time and money invested in it!

Thanks for the answers but someone has to have a Gen II motor out there somewhere who wants some cash. I am just tired of waiting for my car.

I saw it but I have not got a PM yet. The motor that Albert Box has seems good. 855 rwhp or 800 rwhp wet sump (claimed), but I have not heard much about FatAlbert Motorsports. I know he has retired and is getting rid of his stuff. He has offered me the motor for less than 40K (alot less) but don't want to buy a grenade.

Bill at prowler-parts.com (248-952-1669) has one that was built new by Arrow on a new block. The motor is in a crate and has dyno time only. Maybe that's the one from the VCA classifieds?

I already talked with Bill about the Arrow motor but when I spoke with Arrow about it, they didn't think I would be able to put my Paxton on it. Not sure why since it has forged pistons but since I want to got up in boost (10 to 14 lbs) the connecting rods may not handle it.

Archer sent the block to Unibore to get it re-sleeved and they went out of business and he had trouble getting the block out of their place. Now that he got it out, he wants me to pay for the price increases on the build parts (pistons, rods, etc) but the delay is not my fault, its his (he chose Unibore, not me) and I feel that he should eat the increases. He gave me a quote and won't stand behind it. I have no problem paying for something I ordered but don't jack the price up on me just because I've got the money to spend.
In my opinion, after say six month or so, he should have found another block and just built it up and put it in my car and moved on. He has done a lot of work on my vipers in the past but this crap was to much to deal with. It is starting to sound like a Hennessey story. No offense John, I don't have any first hand knowledge of his business (Hennessey Motorsports) other than tring to buy a rear spoiler for a GTS from Hennessey for 6 month with no luck.

I don't know if the blocks are interchangeable but I am looking for a complete motor anyway. Plug and play as they say and I will just part out the rest of my engine.

manifold bolts (from the heads) are a little different. and the PS pump is different. but the block is pretty much the same. a gen3 crank works in a gen2 car... lots of similarities between the two.

Bill from prowler-parts is the guy from MI who has the gen 2 motor on the VCA site. I talked with him numerous times about the engine this past spring, as I wanted to buy it badly. Arrow built it from new; not a used motor; I still have the pics he sent me, too. The only reason I didn't go get it was he said he didn't have any paperwork on it. I couldn't understand that, but I wanted to know exactly what was put into the engine; cam, aftermarket, what machine work was done to the block, heads, crank, etc, if any, etc. etc. Bill was very hush hush, and wouldn't make the call to Arrow (even though he says he is best of buddies with the owner for years,) to get the paperwork on the build. Todd at Arrow did say they have all the paperwork (a packet) showing everything about the build, so I tried to get it from arrow directly. I wanted and needed this engine bad, as I blew the engine in my 97 and the block was unrepairable! They were going to copy it and send it to me, and I was going to MI to buy the motor. Bill knew this, but stepped in and stopped them from sending me any paperwork about the motor! I didn't understand it, as I had set up a date and time (within 2 days) with Bill to come down and buy it CASH. Bill knew all this. It would certainly make anyone weary, and wonder why? He got very short with me on the phone as well. I honestly don't care if I'm buying a pontiac, chevy, ford or whatever fully rebuilt motor, I want to know what's in it, and what machine work has been done to it, especially when this info is available! For someone to withhold all this when he has it (available) and to step in and stop me from getting the paperwork on my own raises great suspicion. He didn't care that this would make or break the sale, even though I told him this. I couldn't understand his actions, and still don't, and certainly didn't appriciate his shortness with me about the matter. I didn't think this was too much to ask when buying a $13,500 engine from a private individual. To add insult to injury, he emailed me back a couple weeks later to offer me $12,000 for my gts, so he could drop the motor in himself and sell it complete! Slap in the face! BE CAREFUL! Chris
