For 2008, the Dodge Viper SRT will use an 8.4-liter aluminum V-10 engine that produces a full 600 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque. 0-60 times are under four seconds, 0-100-0 in under 12 seconds
Pretty unimpressive to say the least for what the 08 car could have been with more effort from all involved parties. To me I sum it up as this. They keep pretty much the same car both inside and out except for a different hood and some added features. Make a few changes in the motor, and slap some what I think is ricer looking wheels on it.

I guess I keep thinking back to the 80's when Vette carried over the mis-fire injection with the new body style and it had 205hp. Remembering back to those days I will take a stock Viper with 600hp any day!
Hmmm.... 600HP, more torque, stronger motor, better/stronger gearbox, better tires, better ignition, better rear end (faster out of corners + puts power to ground better), better/stronger clutch, better cooling, better oiling, rumored 200 pound weight reduction, kick asp mean hood, wheel choices, etc... ALL THIS WITH A VERY SLIGHT PRICE INCREASE!!!
WTF do you guys want? This is NOT a new generation Viper, but merely an upgrade to the existing model. I am EXTREMELY pleased! As far as interior upgrades, LOL! Most Viper owners feel the interior is just fine, so I'm not sure where this comes from. Seats are awesome, adjustable pedals, large gauges, solid construction, etc... I'm just fine with the interior. Very purposeful....
It would have been nice to have an updated front/rear facia, but other than that this is everything I expected and more. Remember, this was only an update to the Gen III.

Your GEN II has ONLY 450 hp...in todays market you will get blown away by a mercedes sedan.....
Ummm, no. Not in any performance category. The Gen II's run in the 11's stock, top out at 194MPH, and will destroy a 4000 pound Merc. sedan on a road course. Let's keep in real.... Show me any current Merc. sedan that does 11's stock and pulls 1+G's and runs thru the salom at a record breaking 73+MPH.
I'm sure it's a great car to drive with more power than I would ever need. But after canceling a year of production I was hoping for more than an updated gen III.
Performance isn't what I was hoping for... the WOW factor was....
I give it up to Dodge - that is a hell of a change. Yes I still don't think the gen3 looks as good as my gen2, but damn, 600Hp stock, stronger motor, reworked intake, vvt, coil on plug, twin disc clutch, new shifter, tranny cooler option, better oiling, and did you see....
60-to-0 in less than 100ft!!!!! That is friggin incredible. If the gen4 looks killer then I will buy one on the spot. If they don't make a gen4, I will get one of these, black coupe please.
