I am not to familiar with the pricing of GTSs and was hoping to get an idea of what this one should be worth.
I have found a 1998 solid red viper GTS. It has 4,000 original miles, 1 original owner, 100% stock and has all original paperwork/sticker. It has never been in any kind of accident and has no paintwork done to it. It is in pristine condition.
This will be my first american muscle car. I have been into Japanese sports cars since I started driving. I have owned eight twin turbo Mitsubishi 3000GT vr4s and a supercharged Acura NSX. I have always liked the styling of the GTS and thought it would be a nice change of pace from what I am used to. Here is a link to my supercharged NSX that I just sold "nevermind, can't until 5 posts."
Please give me some feedback on the GTS I described above. Thanks!
I have a Red 98 GTS with about 8k miles. Red seems to be the cheapest color. I went that direction to save a few bucks as I want to put a blower or turbos on it after I educated myself on the best options.
If you can get the car for around $45K you are getting a good deal. Anything under $45K you are getting a great deal. IMO the car is worth $45K - $50K depending on condition and documentation available. I am a little biased because I have a red 1998 GTS
I always wanted a BW GTS but after researching and making some decisions I thought anyone who paid $7K or more for a paint color was smoking crack . I can tell you that the red is by far the biggest head turner in a crowd, IMO.
I felt the same way about the b/w color scheme whenever I first started shopping for a viper. Then I was made aware of the price gouging for that color combo. My second choice was yellow but I had my mind set on a 98-99 because of the forged internals and most aggressive camshaft. What are the two recalls I keep seeing mentioned?

97 also had the forged internals as did 96 gts. 998 recall is involved and should only be done by a good viper tech. i took my car to the wizard, chuck tator, tators dodge and you shouldnt look anywhere else if your anywhere within 200 miles of the man. he's the best. if you are further away than chuck, call him for a recomendation on who to use. his number and information he has stuffed in that wizard head of his is PRICELESS
Red is the cheapest colour so I'd have to agree and say around mid 40's. Colour is such an individual thing, if you like red then get it and save a few bucks.
I wasn't a big red fan so I decided to spend a little extra and get what I wanted. Why spend that type of money on your dream car and settle for a colour that wasn't your first choice?
Crack or no crack, Blue/White is still the quintessential Viper GTS color scheme.
I still love the BW and will probably own one before too long. Red is still the bigger head turner with non-viper people IMO. I just didn't feel a BW was worth $5K+ when I was buying. My mind may change one day though
Has the pricing of the GTSs pretty much bottomed out now? Obviously the higher mileage ones will keep depreciating but have the mint low mileage cars evened out yet?

I sort of felt the same way and bought a Red RT/10. I also wanted the open top experience. I owned that car for several years. I now own a Blue/White GTS. Couldn't be happier with the decision.

This is the magic question everybody wonders. I feel like the GTS market has bottomed out and will soon start to go back up. I have been watching GTS sales for years now and purchased my red one in August of this year. I felt like I needed to purchase it now or it would cost me more later.
I hope they don't continue to fall because I will be tempted to buy another too soon

I went back and forth on the RT10, GTS, SRT10 decision myself. It was a very tough decision. I am happy with the choice I made. I still want and SRT10 vert for the garage though...someday
