Normally I'd be interested, but this past October, I picked up a .22 ET drop with a balance pipe I made out of $100 or so worth of tubing on a car that still has stock exhaust manifolds.
That's over 20hp btw to go from previous ETs averaging in at 12.14, to ETs of 11.89 & 11.94 (
11.92 average) two weeks later at the same strip with that pipe being the only change.
Why should I buy expensive headers that'd only give me the same 20hp gain? That's all people usually get when installing just headers.
- Though I'd like to try the balance pipe mounted on a set of Belangers-just to know if the gain can be improved upon.
After trying an additional exhaust mod under the side sills recently, I'm beginning to think it's possible to equal the gain from a header catback combo for about 20% of the cost with my two mods once I get the second one dialed in.
Go ahead and laugh..but the balance pipe has me halfway there already, and the second exhaust mod hits harder than the balance pipe-which I never felt SOTP at all, but saw over 20hp from it.
Next Summer
