First post. I live in Montreal Canada. We can't import 1992 - 1996 Vipers into Canada from the U.S. (a 96 GTS is permittable). Frustrating.
Would love a 96 -97 GTS but they are out of my budget.
The 1992 - 1996 RT's are in my price range in the U.S. but not in Canada. Canadians ask about 35% or more for their cars here. My budget is $30K U.S. for the car (I have another budget for maintenance and repairs)
However, I did find this one in Canada. The owner wants $27K U.S. for it (about $30K CDN).
Thoughts or comments? Is this a good deal?
Also, I would want to buy a hardtop and windows for it (eventually). How much are those kits for the car and what brand would you recommend? (Yes...I have used the search feature but couldn't find all the info I needed).
A thank you in advance...I have been using this site for research for months. You guys are great and pretty funny!
According to seller car has never been in accident and no pressing mechanical issues at this time. Recently serviced. But yes I will have it inspected before buying.
Thanks. Yes. I saw that one. This is a Canadian dealer who bought the car and found out he couldn't import it. So the car is actually in the U.S. and cannot be purchased by someone living in Canada.
Spoke to the salesman there. Very nice guy and very pissed.

If only all Noobs could post as well as you!!! You asked a good question , covered your bases (told us you used the search feature) , and then paid us all a compliment ("You guys are great and pretty funny!")
I say BRAVO!!!!!
Noobs take notes this is how its done.
I have a feeling you've been lurking around the alley for awhile now. I hope you can get your car soon, and I look forward to seeing you around the Alley.

Thank you.
Actually I just finished reading the "Viperalley for Dummies" post and now I'm kind of dissapointed no one went after me....I understand this is part of the 'initiation" process.
I mean I thought you guys would start out easy on me like mentioning my grandmother's unusual sexual practices and move on to my lack of personal hygene or my chronic flatulance issues. A good dig on my small penis size is always a classic.
Yet....I got nothing! I feel so alone!!
Aaahh....insulting your buddies, politically incorrectness.....I'm home.

I love this place!!
Finally someone who gets it!!!! Usually Noobs ask some totally retarted question, we all rip on him, they cry, call us all jerks, start ripping on the Viper, and then they fade into the sunset. Sorry you didn't get the welcome you expected, but I (as well as others I'm sure) appreciate a noob that understands the way things work around here.
Cosmetic issues are generally pretty easy to address, as are the addition of a hard top and aftermarket windows. I'd recommend getting a V-Mania top and windows. They look the best and everyone seems to be happy with them. Probably cost a few thousand dollars if you can find a used set, a bit more if you buy new.
I'd find a shop that is familiar with Vipers and have the car taken there for a comprehensive inspection. They can do a compression check, leak down test, check the head gaskets for leaks since that was a prevalent issue with gen1 cars. A tech can also check the suspension and frame to ensure no accidents or overly aggresive curb hits.
If it gets a clean bill of health and it's what you're looking for I'd say go for it.
check out autotrader, there is a nice one for 40k can, i know it's more than what you want to pay but the car seems amazing and there are some mods that you could sell to lower the price of the car.
