At an Aug. 25 sentencing hearing, though prosecutors asked for a two-year prison term, Crin's mother specifically asked the court not to send Gage to prison. She said though she was devastated by her daughter's death, Crin would not have wanted to see Gage go to prison, Fitzgerald said.
I heard about this when it happened. Right off of highway 101. Have a friend that new him in highschool and he was always a show off with the cars that he had. It just finally caught up with him. I don't know what kind of a break they are giving him since he pleaded no contest.
If it had finally caught up to him, he would be dead and not the girlfriend.
Fully agree!!!!!
Sorry but I don't buy into the whole he has to live with bullshit. She is dead and he is to continue with his life. Then people will almost feel sorry for him because what he has to live with.Bunch of shit.
I'm sorry but threads like this never cease to CRACK ME UP!!
...and I'll tell you why*** YES, it is obviously a tragedy that someone (not the driver) lost their life in this foolish incident. And I personally would be as pissed as anybody else (particularly if it were my mother, father, brother, etc...who was the direct victim of this act). There's nothing remotely humourous about that**
...what's histerical is the hypocrisy always shown in these types of threads by all those who speak off their high and mighty soap boxes, making the statement / or insinuating that NO leniency should be given under ANY circumstance, when A) the very family it affected found there to be sufficient reason to be lenient and B) ALL OF YOU, (if not most ~90%) have indulged at one point or another in your lives and done blasts (well into the triple digits, and other non prudent vehicular behavior) on a public highway (which there's NO defense for). That's whats hilarious to me!
...this kid obviously didn't want to spend a couple of nights in jail, injured physically, emotionally, and spiritually...and lose his girlfriend. Not to mention not knowning if he was going to be incarcerated for years even after a fortune on legal expenses. Ending the quality of his own life to a certain extent permenantly (even now after getting probation).
...and the victim's in these cases often are A) cool with this type of behavior or B) actually push for their BF's/man to go fast in a hot sportscar...it is often quite remote that they are begging the driver NOT to do such things and vigorously despise and repent it...which lays at least part of the blame (though small) on the so-called "victims" themselves. (when its not another vehicle involved).
...so those of you 500, 600, 700++HP Viper owners chiming in with no involvement to the victim(s) on your high horses stating no leniency should ever be given and "hang'em high", etc...are F-ing laughable and there's only one word to describe yourselfs... ""hypocrites""
...getting off my soap box now, flame away.

good post kevin ... i feel sorry for the girl and her family , but im in no place to put myself above him .... ,although passing on the shoulder is pretty rediculous
I didn't read the story as stating he passed on the shoulder. I understood it to say that he passed the slower car in the right lane prior to losing control. And I am here to tell you eyewitness accounts of auto wrecks are notoriously incorrect, especially when it comes to time, speed, and distance.
Although I agree with some of his points, Kevin is an asshat for his blanket statement that most girlfriends would be egging the driver on and are somewhat responsible. How the fuck does he know?
I do know any girl I ever had in any of my cars always (seemingly) told me to slow down.
Moreover, there is not a goddamn thing funny about this story, not even the self-righteous indignations.
That guy is a dumbshit. If he was older, i could understand more leniance. He is some punk ass who's daddy bought him a viper and he drives around like a baller. The sad thing is, instead of karma catching up with this douche, it got the girl instead. Sad. I dont suggest they throw the book at him but at least make him pay for his crime.
