Burnt plug wire boots - never hurts to check

I started to notice some odd things out of my motor a few months back.
At first just an annoying occasional pop at idle, then a little mis-firing
at WOT. Plugs and plug wires only have 5,000mi, but after opening the hood
one evening, I noticed one wire arcing to the headers. After inspection,
I noticed the boot over the plug had a hole burned out one side. Started looking at all the plug boots and found 3 more with cracks or holes.
Just sharing this in case some of you feel secure with your new plug wires,
Don't - unless you have extra thermal protection.
I have Magnacor 8.5mm wires - and the integrity of the wires was not degraded,
I just pulled the old boots off, replaced them with new boots, and picked
up a $13 roll of 1" hose insulation from JEGS. I cut the 3' roll up to cover
the 10 plug boots and now I feel secure.

I had that but did not catch it till a big black spot developed on the side sill from the Cats overheating from to much unburnt fuel.

You cheap bastage! You could have had the really cool red ones that DEI makes!!! (From Summit)

Incidentally, I did run Magnecor, but then went to MSD (because they have black boots), but now am going back to Magnecor...The MSD's seem to be letting more gas by to the pipes...(course, this could all be in my mind)
