The weather was beautiful. Slightly overcast and 60 degrees. Probably the last day of the season for the track to be open.
My 1998 GTS went 10.58 @ 136 and backed it up with a 10.43 @ 137 today.
No headwork. No aftermarket cam. No slicks. No nitrous. No overdrive pulley.
Just:
Headers
No cats
exhaust
intake
T&D rockers
Roe blower w/10 lb pulley
91 octane pump gas
Water/methanol
18" BFG drag radials
Tuned by Joe Donovan
The 60' time on the 10.43 pass was a 1.528 on the DR's. There was probably a better short time in it, but it had already been a long day, so we called it quits after the second pass.
I know that many of you guys are in the 9's and 8's already, but for the minimal amount of money invested in this car, I was extremely pleased with how it performed today. Just wanted to share.
The car dyno'd 610/655 on Joe's dyno and 630/675 on our local dyno.
The dyno numbers were 7 months apart and obviously on different dynos, but it's somewhere in that 600+ range.
The car will be going back to Joe Donovan for installation of a set of Greg Good's heads and a DW overdrive pulley very soon. We are still discussing whether or not to switch out the 708 cam or just leave it alone.

Mark, fantastic #'s!
You are as good of a driver as you are at picking out a hot woman!
Great numbers! I bet Kenny is not happy with this thread. What's that, $12k in mods to get 630rw?
Actually, I'm very happy with this thread - gives me hope that my own Viper will run pretty damn good, too...next year. I did do 11.9 ET @ 127 MPH with a special Larry Macedo tune the one time it did get to race this entire year, but my car blew fuses and shut off on the track, too. This was when it was not very drivable on the street to the track due to surging and bucking and the tune was not very close to being right in general, but Larry Macedo told me it would be alright to race it. I had so much problems with fuses blowing on the track during the few runs it made that I never tried to race again this year before Larry got my car back 2 months ago.

I'd say your spot on, Gary. I bought the supercharger, spark plug wires and water/meth kit from Tony Armour (1TONY1). He was a great guy to deal with, gave me a great price on those items and I just installed everything myself in my buddy's garage.
Then I picked up a set of headers and had my exhaust custom made at a muffler shop here in town. The guy does very nice custom work and is extremely reasonable.
I bought the T&D's brand new from 99RT/10 here on the Alley at his usual, incredibly low price.
Took the car to Joe Donovan in St. Louis for the installation of the rockers, for the tuning and a few other little things (change the front brake pads, install a new clutch, install a new catch can, some powdercoating, etc).
I'd say the cost of the go-fast items is right at about $12,000 installed and tuned.
Like I said, I know the big boys on here are well into the 9's and 8's on a regular basis anymore. But considering the investment I have in the car, I am extremely pleased with how well it runs. Probably the best part about the car is that this is how it runs every day. I don't change the tune, I don't need race fuel, and I don't even need slicks. Day in, day out, the car is fast, reliable, and still fun to drive.
I think with a nice said of heads and a touch more boost, it will go even faster.
If money were no object, I'd love to have twin turbos. But with the exception of nitrous, in my opinion the Roe blower is about the best bang for the buck. It returns a lot of power and a lot of fun for not a lot of money.
Do you powershift? I have similar power and mods and cut a 1.55 60 on hoosier drag radials and got a 10.84 @ 134mph. I have not started powershifting yet, I did just put a centerforce clutch in though.
Those are some excellent times JB! Are you going to hook up the NOS? You'll be deep into the 9's with a small 100 shot. But like you said, for all around daily driving, it's hard to beat.
