Pretty simple question, but would be very interested in the responses. I will take ownership of a 97-99 GTS within the next 30-45 days and I'm trying to figure out the best thing to do with it. The cars I'm looking at are all stock starting out. I don't want to spend more than 15k, as spending more will just get my way more power than I can use. I really like to drive my cars, which is why I love my truck. Totally streetable, but still makes tons of power.

What will 15k dollars get me for one of these cars, mods wise? Ideally I'd like to drop off at a tuner and pick it up done. I'm on the east coast and can get the car to any tuner from FL to NC.

call one of the big tuners and see how much a TT setup would cost. at worst, a paxton would run ya that i think installed.

Paxton and some sticky tires and then all you need is a big smile while kicking some ZO6 ass.

Few pennies left over and shorter shifter. At this point you should still have $1500 left & over 600 rwhp.

I'd hop in the stock GTS. Get the $15K in large bills. And go lay both down on a new Z06.

Or

Or

Or

Don't buy the Viper, buy a Fox Body Mustang, and intern for the guy on the Internet who always runs the "Well, if I threw $50GR at my Mustang, it'd beat your Viper."

One of those.

I've never driven a turbo car. I need to run down to underground and go for a spin in one. They are only 90 miles from me. I'm VERY pleased with Roe and their work on my truck. I need to do more research on driveline mods that are needed at the higher HP numbers.

All I want to do is run in the 10's, what will that take?

Yeah, and it would still be a Mustang. I love it when I get that from some punk kid.

My buddy who drives a stupid and stock 95 mustang with only a catback system poked fun at me in front of a number of my friends at a party I was having at my house. (I blew my engine and am in the middle of replacing it with my new arrow engine.) He said at least he can drive his car to a car show (whereas right now I can't.) I responded by telling him that I could trailer my car to the show, leave it on the flatbed with no engine, and it would still get 10x more attention than his piece of shit! Everyone at the party laughed at him because they knew I was right! Chris

Paxton.....spend the change in a new fuel system. I believe UGR got over 900rwhp Matt's old B/W with this setup. More than you'd ever need it sounds like. At least you'd have room to grow.

I don't even think they used headers on that car, stock mani's.

I'd add some MGW goodies, exhaust, safety loops for now, and wait a bit longer 'til you can save up about $10k more and go the TT route.

Just nothing like it.
If you are NEEDING more power immediately. a SCi setup will take care of you. Then you'll want headers, exhaust, etc.

Good luck!

Spend the first $3k on a 2 day high performance driving school. It's a high performance accessory you can take with you to every vehicle you'll ever drive.

Spend the next $4k on brake and shock upgrades. Put the balance into helmet, harnesses, oil pan baffles, headers, exhaust, radiator, airbox, roller rockers, extra wheels and track tires.

Get the Viper and the following items; (this is of course, what I did!!)

1. Rolex Datejust, so your left arm looks good while you look good driving!
2. DaVinci Veneer Teeth, so when you smile in your Viper you look good!
3. WIG and good glue, so girls will look twice at you when driving your Viper
4. Banana, so you look good with it stuffed in your pants when you step out of your Viper!
5. 100 $1 Bills and ONE $ 100 Bill to create the WAD OF CASH that you will
be assumed to have when you look good reaching into your banana filled pants pocket to pay for lunch after getting out of your Viper.
6. ONE Nitrous Bottle for the trunk
7. ONE Intercooler, mounted alone in the grill
8. THREE Lighted Toggle Switches mounted in visible locations on the dash
9. Book so that you can learn about Nitrous and Forced Air induction for the many conversations that you will have when you step out of your Viper looking good with your shiny teeth, perfect hair, WAD and Banana in your Pocket!

LOL

In all seriousness...

With 15K i would go this route...

GET THE CAR FIRST
Buy a new exhaust
remove the cats or get high flows
send the car down to Roe Racing
get an 8lb SC kit

All said and done you're probably looking at 11-12K TOPS for everything installed and tuned and the car will have 600rwhp and capable of running a VERY high 10.

With the extra cash you could do the water meth kit (400 bucks), rockers (1200), and even a shot of Nitrous. the water/meth and rocker should get you in the ~630rwhp range.
Nitrous will get the car in the 9's with the blower.

I love my Roe Blower. It's VERY streetable, has enough power to cause trouble and its reliable.
