I Spoke With The T-Busa Owner I Raced A While Back...
...today. Martin and I talked about the infamous race. It was a pretty funny conversation. He still can't believe how the race went down. He said that his bike buddies gave him hell for a while and it took some time to live it down. His bike is making more power now. I'm not sure what they upgraded, but he said it should be making 380hp or so. I asked him if they dynoed the bike yet. He said they put it on the dyno, but they couldn't keep the tire from spinning.
Ripper 02,
He thought the GT was mine. He saw it on my site. I told him I wish. He said he really liked it.
I told him about Big Red. He said he thought even with the power he is making now, he wouldn't be able to catch it. He asked if we could line em up just for the hell of it. I told him we would, but I will not release the video. I just got tired of defending the race. I went through the trouble of setting it up to be called a liar after the fact... fuck that. We are going to set up some good ass races for Big Red! I was on the phone with Full Tilt today. I want one of the best riders from the Busa boards to bring a proven respected bike with a dyno sheet. Whatever the outcome, everyone can agree that both camps were represented by one of their most capable members.
I would like to race several levels of bikes. I thought it would be cool to start with a 250-300rwhp bike and move up from there. It will be interesting to see at what power level the tables will start to turn. I'll keep everyone posted if Martin and I decide to line em up off the record. Maybe I'll post the video in one of the private sections of the forum. We'll see. I just hate all of the belly aching that will probably be associated with me racing an unproven rider/bike.
For the record, Martin has proven to be a real stand up guy. I'm sure he took a lot of shit from his bike buddies, but to this day he still tells them like it is. "On that day, I just couldn't keep up with the viper". He's a class act.I invited him down to the event in December to make a few exhibition passes if he wants. I hope you guys get to meet him.
Nice commentary Gary! Sounds like a good guy - you guys should have fun if it works out with all the different bikes to match up. But I wonder what it would take when a Turbo Busa won't cut it... hmmm......
From what I have noticed in talking with bikers is in general their pride of speed is through the roof. As far as that whole specific crowd goes, i'd say a good 90% of them think their bikes can beat a top fuel dragster. But when they get stomped they refuse to admit it and the built up ager turns into them spreading lies about how the race was "set up" or they never really "got on it". I say forget it, if you have the means race em, speak your truth on who won and be done with it. Leave the "Im the worlds best" pride at the door, and let your machine do the talking.
Thanks for the story.

A LITTLE faith, with ALOT of God's favor is all you need to succeed.
Gary I just heard a rumor about your race yesterday. After playing and eating a GSX1000 on Sunday and a CBR1000 we all pulled over to shoot the shit. Minutes pass and they asked me if I ever saw this video about a b/w Viper beating a T-Busa. When I told them we were friends they asked me if I could beat your car. I told them I didn't think so but I thought it would be a good race. Now there scratching there heads saying how bad would that b/w Viper beat us. Heading up to the Smokeys this morning and will probably stop by your store at the end of the week to harass you Mr Javo.
Gary, you are going into uncharted territory. There are not that many 350+hp bikes nor 1500rwhp cars around to race. I hope to go up against some of the high HP Indy Busa's next spring. Depending on your outcome I would have a better feel of how I would fare. Best of luck!!
motorcycles have a ton of drag, it would be more interesting to see a race from a dead stop. I beat a R1 real bad from a roll on.
Have you ever tried to race a fast bike from a dig on the street? It's impossible. They are too light and get moving too quickly. On street tires, a stock gsxr1000 would hand Big Red it's ass from 0-100. After that, I would come by him like he was standing still, but there is no staying with him off the line.

exactly! Bikes are better from 0-100 after that they dont pull as hard and HP is king. Gary you should find someone with the new zx-14! That thing is running low 9's at close to 155 stock! Wait till they start running turbo's! The new 07 busa 1400 is coming soon too and who knows how fast it will be. Before long these things are going to be untouchable by anything less than a full on drag car. Ricky Gadson ran 8.07 at 183 with a 100 shot. Step it up Gary or it might cost you a dollar!
You have to have some serious cajones to be going that fast on an oversized bicycle. I think I will stick to things with 4 wheels, but props to whoever can get on a bike and ride it like you stole it.
I just got a 2005 Busa last week....it sure does feel faaaaast
I was playing tonight at the strip and doing slow starts, just practicing hitting the gears and getting used to the acceleration, ie hanging on. There is a learning curve for an inexperienced rider (me)
I'm not so sure about bikes being faster from 0-100 though. Most I have seen aren't any quicker in the 1/8 mile then a good Viper on tires......ah nevermind, I see you guys were talking street not strip.
