Future 99 GTS owner questions

Within the next 6-8 months I'm going to be buying a 99 GTS. Most likely Black ext/ black interior. My question is what common problems, should I look for or expect?
I read about the power steering issue. Should I go ahead and replace the power steering pulley and bracket right after I get the car?
What other issues should I expect? Or other mods I should do after purchasing? I appreciate any help.

Hi Steve. You can't go wrong with a black '99 GTS (I have two).

I have not had problems with the pulley or the bracket, but I did order two billet brackets about 6 months ago (haven't installed them yet).

The most obvious problem to look for is whether or not the front frame recall was installed correctly. If you're under the car and you cannot obviously remove the oil filter straight down, then it wasn't.

Good luck, and whereabouts are you located?

I have a black '99. Pretty wicked looking but the chips on the chin are pretty visible.

Black is a pain in the ass. Good luck finding a Black/Black. Most are black and congac. Not sure of the numbers, but I'm sure most are black/congac.

Just bought a cherry '99 myself 2 weeks ago Chuck Tator at Tator's Dodge in NY can tell you whether the frame recall has been done or not.

I'm in Fayetteville NC. I noticed alot of the Black 99's have cognac. I'm really not a big fan of the cognac interior though. So I'll just keep searching until I find a Black/black car. Anyone have any photo's of the recall perhaps?

I have a black on black RT, not GTS.
Only thing I can recommend with the black.
Whenever possible go to a 'touch free' carwash. I pay the money as nothing touches the car and it's cleared with high pressure air.
Sponge washing the car, like it or not, it picks up dirt.
You are then potentially wiping sand granules across the paint, scratching it.
Touch free man !

Wipe down with Micro Fiber cloths ONLY.
Wax, I only use ' Top of the Line ' wax.

Never wax in a circular motion.
Only problem I've ever had was with the alarm and computer.
Had to replace wiring harness and ' brain ' of computer.
Be cautious when setting alarm.

Enjoy man !
To me, black is the only way to go.
THE batmobile.

Two thumbs up bro and good luck with it !

OK, I can't take my eyes off those congnac seats. Nice seat cover!! The only major problem I have with my Vipers is keeping the kids finger prints off them and having to wipe off all the Drool. LOL
