What a night for my GTS at the track

Last night I went to the test and tune session to try to get a better time and to bring my 60' down.

I took a total of 6!!! Runs.

My First 3 runs had a 20 minute break between them and the best I did was a 11.62 @ 126 Mph with a 60' of 2.090 <--- Crap

immediatly after my 3rd run, I decided to run again (5 minute break) but this time try to launch my BFG's by launching at 3000 RPM and dropping the clutch. The Good news is I got a 1.988 60' (although the car bogged) but 4th gear didn't hook so my 1/4 mile ET sucked (11.78)

So I was sooo pumped that I immediatly asked to take another run (from the return road to the staging area) I know that wasnt the best idea but I was really excited to try to launch at 4000RPM and dumping the clutch.

And I did and the car gave me a 60' foot of 1.8 and bogged a little, however because I didn't let the car cool down. 2nd gear didn't hook.

So I was even more of an idiot and came back for a 3 run immediatly, This time I launch at 5000RPM and the car hooked perfectly gave me a 60' of 1.7 but the clutch was sooo tired, I couldn't get 2nd gear to hook.

There is a open challenge of Thursday which I am hoping to attend. I am only going to take 4 runs maxs with at least 30 minutes between each run. If I can launch like last night and get throught the gears. I hope to report my best ET ever for my Naturally Asspirated GTS.

JWR....I am assuming you mean the clutch was slipping...?????? As for the 60's they are getting there bro!!! Now you know what to do, so get out there and get it done!!!!! If you can manage a 1.60 to 1.70 you should be able to get down to the 11.40s or so...maybe in the high 11.30's barring the clutch doesnt slip.

Good job and keep at it!!! Remember, Practice DOESNT make perfect, PERFECT PRACTICE makes perfect!!!!

You are destroying your clutch bro and if you are launching at 5k rpms that isnt traction your lacking in 2nd 3rd and 4th its you clutch burning. Your clutch and tranny take more beating than the motor at the track and that may be more of a reason to let it cool down than any. I know the adrenaline takes over and you want to try and do it again for memory but you will get more runs over the long haul if you take care of the car. 2.0 on DR's sucks bad but you are getting good at the launches to get down to 1.7x

BTW What mods are you running? Nevermind I looked it up!

Launches get easier with a burnt clutch. If that thing is hot enough, you can drop it from the rev limiter and it will just go, slipping the clutch for 100ft and running a good 60ft but as stated, it will be short lived. You need some cool down. The Viper has so much tq that you can get off the clutch very quickly and power through the 60 foot. Good luck.
