I have the intake, and new headers on now. I was comming home last night and caught up to a red evo I recognized. The guy is rummored to be making just south of 500Hp. We were on a 2 lane and I roll up beside him at about 40 in 2nd gear :-) we both nailed it....we only got up to about 90, but needless to say, I was preety happy, put about a car on him, but to honest it was pretty even.
Tires didn't hook well, I would think if they did I would have had another 1/2 car.
i saw a guy at the local track remove his interior out of the evo he just bought just to see what the best number he could do was with simple tuning of the stock components using his laptop and some software for it. none-the less i was really impressed. the guy ran a low 11 all night long. STOCK. I didnt see why he did go through the hassle of taking the seats and stuff out but it was quick.

Yea, like I said, from a dig he has an advantage for sure, but at 40 its a little different.
The interiors must weigh a ton in those cars, because the stock 8's are a 13 second car...from what i have seen.

Low 11's in a stock Evo????? No way!!! Low 13's maybe high 12 with a good driver. Evo/STIs are big here in Austin and I've seen what it takes for these cars to run 11's.
yup, that seems right in line. I am guessing with my power and the result this car was more like 380-400 at the crank, not 500 like they said.
and he was trapping 123mphish, thats not much more than you would be doing and he has a lot less room for error to get that mph (i.e. a tiny bog and he'll lose 5-7mph) whereas your tq can more than make up for being a couple hundred rpm too low.

Cody, I swing from V10kingsnake's nuts and must request that you do not contradict him for he is both omniscient and omnipotent.

I am not sure what this guy would trap at, I just knew the car from a lot of local hype and was like "what the hell" I am making good power and am in the right gear lets do it. Was happy to hang, let alon gap him some.
Another factor is that the 4 cylinder turbos really feel the extra weight of passengers more than the Viper will.
My brother has an Evo 8 that is chipped and it's a great car. Not as brutal or fun as the hotrod Skyline - but clinically capable of beating any Italian exotic around the coastal roads here.

boplaw...good boy. now your learning.
and to the nay sayers, the guy said it was stock. but he seemed to have some engine management which was working wonders. oh, he did say his intercooler was larger than stock but i couldnt see that being that big an issue over stock.
If he's running an AEM or Power FC and has a larger FMIC, you can bet there is a non-stock turbo in there. Non-stock turbo + Evo VIII = reliable beatdowns of lots of windbreakers.

I don't know about all that West Coast Kid97 Ricer...errrr boy racer stuff..........but I'd say this 4 banger is on the quick side

There was no pasenger. Just the guy (small asian, no racism, just stating facts).
I am 6 foot 1, 200 lbs and I had a case of 97 Teledeschi Zin the passenger seat :-)
