A new Classified Ad has been posted to the Vipers For Sale section:
Description: 1999 Dodge Viper GTS. 44,000 miles. All black with Cognac interior.
I purchased this car just a few months ago. To make a long story as short as possible…prior to the Viper, I owned a Shelby Cobra 427 replica for over 4 years. I loved the car, but since my son was born two years ago and I switched jobs, I found that I didn’t drive the car at all anymore. So I knew it was time to sell it. For many months I debated what to do when I sold the Cobra. One choice was to buy a Viper. The other was to buy something a less expensive, and give some of the money to my wife for our new house and use the rest to go buy a 4 cylinder class race car and start doing some Saturday night short track racing. I decided to buy the Viper. Now I really think I made the wrong decision. I feel guilty not allowing my wife the equity to decorate our house the way she wants (she’s been very supportive), and I’m really getting the racing bug and want to go for it.
Anyway, the reason I give this story is to let you know why I’m selling the car shortly after I bought it. It’s not because anything is wrong with the car or I don’t like it. I actually love the car and am very fond of it. Someday I may get one again. But right now, I feel it’s the right thing to do to share with my wife and also go for the racing I’ve always wanted to do.
The car spent all it’s life until last month in Arizona. It is in excellent condition inside and out. The paint is in outstanding shape. My wife and I put a fresh coat of wax on it and it sparkles. The rims are in excellent shape. The tires are nearly new and have lots of tread left on them. I have documented receipts for work performed on the car over the last several years. Of course, it has had routine oil changes using synthetic oil. In addition, the clutch was replaced at 40,000 miles, so it has 4000 miles on it. All 4 rotors and pads were replaced at 41,300 miles, so they’re practically brand new. It’s had routine transmission servicing, plus the dealer recommended 40,000 mile service (which was around $1000). When I bought the car, it had a chip in the windshield, so I had it replaced with OEM glass. My mechanic (who builds Cobras from scratch and maintains cars including Ferraris and Porsches) replaced the passenger side exhaust manifold gasket. I also just had the differential replaced due to some excess play in it which caused a clunking noise, so it has 0 miles on it. It then went right through PA state inspection, both safety and emissions, with no troubles. The inspection is good until May 2007. The car drives outstanding. It is extraordinarily fast. The handling is also outstanding. The reflexes are very quick and the steering is sharp. As a bonus, the car gets great gas mileage cruising the highway. At 75mph in 6th gear, it’s turning 1450-1500rpm.
The interior is in excellent condition also. The seats are very well kept, as is the dash. The only nitpicking thing I could say about the interior is that the shifter ball is showing wear in the leather and would need to be replaced to be 100% perfect. But it doesn’t bother me at all. The a/c is ice cold.
The car has a clean Carfax and has never been in any accidents
