SVS First Flex Fuel Viper - E85/93 V10

Before we added the e85 flex fuel sensor this 98 GTS project started with a stock engine and was complemented with the following components:

SVS headers
SVS rear mount turbo system (1 76mm GTS turbo)
Air/Air intercooler
T&D rockers w/ Manley 3/8 pushrods
SVS fuel system
Motec engine management

More can be read about the first stages here:

SVS rear mount turbo

New additions to the engine, fuel and ignition:

Ported and polished heads
JE pistons (lower compression)
SVS Turbo Cam
GM inline e85 Flex Fuel Sensor
SVS coil on plug ignition system

The e85 flex fuel sensor communicates with the Motec engine management and makes all necessary compensations for any percentage combination of the 2 fuels. It's quite slick and will allow our customer to run 100% e85 at the pump or any combination of e85 and 93.

Our first tuning session on e85 has produced 600rwhp @ low 130's kpa (4-4.5psi) with conservative timing. e85 likes compression and it will be interesting to see the results once we start increasing the boost.

Very soon we will have a great deal of information regarding e85 testing on many different V10 engine platforms.

I know that vettes run them - just what is the upside? Especailly on a car still using the stock injectors?

The upside is more spark.

The engine in the pic is running 60# injectors.

Nope.

Send them here

Battery Mart, Motorcycle, Batteries, Laptop, Notebook, Battery Chargers

they should be able to wire something together for more power

big gay plastic panels that say CORVETTE.

Ill take coil on plug... I dont know if many others would prefer the rats nest of 10 plug wires all around the engine to coil on plug if it was available. I doubt anyone would complain if they came on there stock, thats for sure.

Congrats Ron, for doing something completely different. Building something that no one else is even coming close trying just shows that you are always looking further ahead than most. Nice job.

why upgrade the motor for 4psi? Did it blow up before? I dont get why build a motor and have a motec for 4psi? Is that car out on the street running?

Id love to see this car vs a stock motor'd TT viper from our neck of the woods... you game?

the tooth is a guy that likes to have cool stuff for the sake of having it. 4psi is only the begining. I wasnt there when they were tuning this one, but I would assume tuning a car to accept multiple fuels and any combination inbetween would be quite time consuming the first time around (as you have to build an acceptable base map).

this car will certainly see more then 4psi... consider it a break in tune if anything, the car had just been put back together.

BTW guys, IIRC that coil on plug setup isnt a custom Motec only setup. I think it was made as a plug and play deal and doesnt depend on specific engine management. Correct me if I am wrong, Jr... but I think this is a standalone thing that you can sell regardless of the buyers existing setup??

eric... i dont imagine the tooth street racing with you guys, but I suppose there is no harm in asking...

gotcha, you said it started with a stock motor, now it has a built motor. One would just assume something happened... why build the motor if it didnt need to be built? Charlie, is your 350z running again yet? We are all going out tomorrow night. I hope the turbo viper and your 350 can join us!

No the motor did not blow up. The only way to make more power out of the SINGLE turbo in the rear and do it reliably was to lower the compression open up the heads and change the cam.

The tooth loves to always be trying new things on all of his cars he has owned. I'm happy for that and enjoy supplying him with what he wants to accomplish with his Viper.

We didn't upgrade the motor for only 4 psi I guess you would think that because I'm putting out some info early about this system and it's not fully completed yet. It's pretty hard to understand that from reading what I posted, sorry.

We will take our time and push the boost as we learn. Once we've completed tuning I will let you know and in the meantime I will ask Paul if he's ok with us setting up a race.

It would be hilarious to run you since your planning on fighting with a a big twin turbo front mount system compared to a single rear turbo.

Oh you bet I'm game

sweet. Id love to see what a little twin kit with a stock motor and fuel system will do against the built motor, single turbo viper with the fuel system. Should be interesting!

Also, why lower the compression on the motor? How big does he plan on taking it? The stock motor/fuel system is good to at least 800rwhp, Ive seen it in person. How big does he want to go with the rear mount turbo? How far can he go?

We will be out tomorrow. My cell is 630-768-0761, I hope to hear from you guys. Ill be expecting a call
