Ok. A made a few adjustments and the following things changed, Please give me your opinions:
1st.. The BFG's are gripping too soon during the burnout process. I would like to know the possible reasons. The tires are new with 10 good burnouts on them. Should they be gripping so early (i.e. 2-3 seconds) during the burnout.
2nd.. My Trap Speed increased from 117 MPH to 124 MPH (with slight tire spin in 1st and 2nd.
3rd.. ET went from 12.2 to 11.9 but 60ft has not changed from 2.0
4th.. The reason for unstability at top end was due to new brakes. That problem was fixed.
Once you get the bugs dialed out and the launch squared away, 125-127 looks to be attainable. On your launch, was it spinning or bogging?? Also what was your ture pressure on front and back, and did you ice the intake down between runs??
Also what was your 1/8th ET and mph?? We can better se what is going on in the run if you post all the data.
Also, on the burnout, make sure to get all of the tire wet. Spin them in the water box, pull forward and proceed to do the burnout at 4000-5000 RPM. When you feel them starting to grap, let off the thottle.
I wouldn't think you'd need to heat the tires on a lo 12sec car. BFG says just spin them over a couple times to knock the gravel etc off of them.
A water burnout can also throw water up onto the fenderwells which will drip back down onto the pavement around your DRs while you're waiting for the green light.
If the DRs aren't spinning too much w/o a monster burn out, why bother? For a car in the 10s I could maybe see the 'need' , but at your current ET..?
Guess I'll have to look and see what you're running for mods to gain 7mph after adjustments. And where the 125-127mph is coming from, must be a lot more ET left in it if those who know you can see that kind of MPH in your future.
yea, pull around the water box as much as possible so you get the least amount of water on the tires and line your car up. Do a quickie burnout and pull back for one more "launch" sytle burn out, just to make sure the tires are sticking. Once you get that launch down, it will be nice to see your 1/4 mile times! 11.9 is still bad ass! Good Job!
Other than how much HP you're trying to hook up, I think the water/no water burnout deciding factor is whether there is tread on your rear tires or not. Tread will catch some water when you roll through it and whip it up onto the fenderwells to drip down when you are on the line.
Slicks that are completely smooth/treadless aren't as inclined to do that.
