Grear ratio?

Putting some miles on the car, and have a question. What rpm's are you seeing in 5th gear at 55mph? I am wondering if my gear ratio is stock or has been changed, as I probably could use 6th on the highway at 75mph and keep the rpm's at 2000...just wondering if that is normal with a stock ratio?

At 70mph in 6th it should be about 1700rpm. If you're running 2K in 6th at 75mph I'd say you probably have a gear change.

You can tell by marking a rear wheel and marking the drive shaft, put it in neutral and count the rotations.

I think my rear end is stock, though I have kinda been wondering since my 1/4 mile times are a little better than average for the few mods I have. I'll try and confirm my speed/RPM's tomorrow when I'm sober.....

The gears my ACR are stock. At 70mph in 6th, I run about 1700-1800rpm.

Are ACR gears different? I'm pretty sure my gears are stock in my 94'. I just confirmed this during my lunch break.

70 - 1400rpm - 6th gear
70 - 1400rpm - 6th gear (confirmed again)
70 - 2000rpm - 5th gear
60 - 1750rpm - 5th gear

Is everyone keeping tire size in mind? The same gears on different size tires will effectively change the final ratio to the road. MPH to RPM comparisions only work if the diameter of the tires are the same.

True... I'm rolling on 17's for anyone who cares. Not twankies, home skibblets.

MPH =

Rpm x Tire diameter
----- divided by-------
overall gear ratio x 336

(overall gear ratio = trans gear x rear gear)
