My recent Jay Herbert experience...

First off, I am posting this here because it seems to be where all the Jay threads go including a stickied one.

Second, I debated posting this, but I don't like being threatened or talked down to and I refuse to let anyone get away with that.

Some background is in order. Viper D (who posts both here and on the morgue) and I don't get along. That's no secret. He had posted a thread on the morgue about being ripped off by a contractor and asked what people thought about him parking his Viper near the contractor's place of business with messages abot that contractor's business practices posted on the side of his Viper to raise awareness about this individual. Almost everyone, including myself and numerous other Alley members, told him he was an idiot and would accomplish nothing other than possibly getting sued. After about five pages, the thread disappeared.

Viper D then posted a thread asking where his first thread went. In one of the first responses, Gary repeated a standing challenge to Viper D to race him. I then responded to Viper D with the following:

Geez, Viper Dumbass, I would have thought you would have been
delighted to see that thread disappear.

I guess this thread is just to make sure everyone knows exactly how
big a moron you are.

So are you gonna run Gary or what?

Next thing we know this second thread disappears and the following conversation between Jay Herbert and myself begins via email. The emails are in chronological order and are seperated by dashed lines.

The post fell under this policy:

We also understand language. If you would like, we can up this to a strike, you're call.

Jay, it's your not you're in that context. Let me make something extremely clear, Jay. There are a lot of VCA members out there who object to the way you run our website. We are not children that you can threaten. I asked a reasonable question. I am now asking again how you classify this under the heading you have. As a VCA member, I expect an answer this time and not some childish threat.

Subject: RE: Warning

If you cannot see that calling someone a Viper Dumbass is not a threat then there is no point to furthering this discussion. You have a place to post this sort of thing, the VCA site is not it. The VCA site is the Viper Club of America site and this sort of "contribution" ads nothing to the site for its users.

It's not a threat it's a name. For your edification, here are numerous definitions for the word threat.

The following is an example of a threat: "If you would like, we can up this to a strike, you're (sic) call."

Jay, the VCA website is not your website. It is the VCA's website. I add (not ad, as you improperly used it) quite a bit to the website as do others. The funny thing is that neither Viper D nor myself (the two adverse parties) desired, requested, or appreciated your involvement in this issue. Please stop over moderating in the future or at least make sure that you can properly justify your actions.

--------------------------------------------------------

Needless to say, I have not been banned, nor have I heard anything further from Jay. I think that this exchange is a perfect example of the dictatorial practices Jay uses to run the VCA's website on a day to day basis. I was really pissed about the way Jay talked to me and I truly hope the VCA gets rid of him soon as a paid contractor because he truly is a pox on the organization.

There is no way anyone would get a warning for saying "Viper Dumbass", that is ridiculous. There was a thread recently where DevilDog was using every racist ethnic slur with two guys from New York (He loves guys from "Jew York") that was ten times worse than this. He's still there. You are on the hit list for sure. No doubt he wants you off the VCA boards, and your one step closer now.

That's EXACTLY how I felt. It was like I was questioning the king. In fact, it should have been the other way around, because as a VCA member, I pay his overinflated salary.

Don't get me wrong. Anyone who has been around for a while on these boards, knows I'm not a choir boy. And some may look at me and say I skated under the radar so many times that I had it coming. And they made be right. But in this case the original "offense" was mild and I was very polite in the manner in which I dealt with him. But the attitude that he gave me for simply questioning the reasoning behind the warning was absolutely uncalled for and, in my opinion, is a window on how he has run the website and manhandled the VCA officers for years.

What exactly is the difference between a warning and a strike? Meaning, three strikes and you are out, I take it? So, would that be like 6 warnings? Or does two warnings not equal a strike? If that is the case, what if you had two strikes and 17 warnings?

I believe you're correct. A "warning" has no impact except that it will likely be used as a pretext to call for a "strike" the next time you draw any attention to yourself.

It's such an adolescent protocol! Rather embarrassing to me as a regional officer.

Kenny, you are experiencing just a tickle of the reason why VA exists. Your responses are articulate and properly conceived...but sadly, wasted.

Perhaps we ought to build a case of incidents like this against Ned and present it at the VCA presidents' meeting that occurs Monday, September 25 in an attempt to get Ned removed from his current position.

Well Kenny, if you had used the proper VCA spelling for VD, i.e. Viper Dumba$$, you might still be flying under the radar.

Although I doubt it.

It's a bunch of childish shit! I wonder how much worse it has to get until someone throws the bullshit flag and has his ass removed, I don't care if it is "his Bandwidth." I'd say his "Holier the thou" ass has been more than compensated, and has done more harm than good. I agree that some sanity has to be maintained, but he treats every post like God Himself is going to read it; it's a bit overkill.

And don't even get me started on this bar-b-que crap...

We could probably start a Flanders section in Viper Alley. A place to share stories of dealing with the Ned Flanders.

Why don't you start a post asking him to get together for a cruise? (His car is still not together, I am almost starting to think he doesn't even own a Viper)
