I was out with a co-worker/fellow car enthusiast for a drive in my 01 ACR. We had a great drive, stopped and got gas, etc. We were nearing the office, and I was running up the gears. At around 5K in 2nd, I shifted into 3rd and let the clutch out, the engine died. I put the clutch back in, tried to start the car, but it wouldn't start. It would crank, but wouldn't fire. I was able to coast back into the office parking lot, but the car will not start. Any thoughts? The car has 8K miles on the clock, and has run like a champ for the 200 or so miles I've put on it so far (I've only owned the car for a few weeks.) I checked all the fluids just last week and they were fine. Any things I should check for?
Floor it a couple of times with the motor not running to reset the computer. Then pull the pos. side of the batt. connection and reset it that way if the first method fails. Try this first, then move to fuel and spark issues.

Thanks. Does pulling the cable at the "positive jump point" actually disconnect the battery, or do I need to pull the cable on the battery post itself?
had a simliar issue with my 97 gts at the drag strip a month back. just after doing a burnout i was walking forward and the car turned off. it cranked hard but again never started. after an hour of head scratching and ideas shot down i checked the fuse panel and bingo, a very needed fuel solnoid relay had popped. put a good one in its place and VAROOOM it was tearing down the quarter once more! its the cheapest and easiest place to check first!

It does disconnect the batt., so there is no need to go the rear wheel well. If it starts after you reconnect, let it run and keep the throttle around 1,500 rpms until the computer resets.

V10, you are the man....I pulled the fuse for the "relays" under the dash, and sure as shit, it was blown. Borrowed the turn signal fuse (also a 10 amp) and she fired right up. The disconcerting part is that that fuse has this very conspicuous, obviously aftermarket wire just jammed into the socket and then the fuse is pushed in after it. I have no idea where it goes. There is nothing aftermarket on this car, so I'm not sure where the heck that thing is going. I know what my homeowrk is for the weekend though.
you are welcome bro. and i bet anything the wire is a tell tale sign of a prior nitrous system on the car. that where mine tied in and the unmentioned reason for why mine blew too. looooong story. trace the wire to its resting place today and you will probably find its been cut and is shorting out the fuse. tell me you did pull the stuffed wire out of the fuse block! again your welcome bro.

I did not pull the wire out of the fuse block (yet) because I a) didn't want to introduce an unkown with no time to deal with the results, and b) was doing this while 'on the clock' at work and I didn't want to take too much advantage of company time. The goal was to get it running so I could get it home. I'll be tracin' that sucker down this weekend for sure though...I hate unknowns. (Although most of the car is an unknown for me right now, I'm learning thanks to guys like you!) I'll let you know what I find.
v10kingsnake,
You were right. That black wire ran down to the floor, along the outside of the drivers seat, up into and across the back of the trunk where it was connected to....absolutely nothing. What does/did this wire go to on your car? Was it running an electronic No2 valve or something like that? There are some extra tweeters in the back of this car that are completely disconnected as well, but this lone wire didn't go to either of them and it's not speaker grade anyway.
Getting that thing out was a bitch because it was stuck in the carpet glue in multiple places so I had to pull all of the interior trim down the left side of the car and pull up the carpet. Along the way, I discovered that the previous owner had cracked the giant interior piece that runs behind both seats, ripped the speaker cone on the right rear speaker to shreds, and kinked or damaged the internal hatch-release cable such that once you pop the hatch using the release lever, the hatch will no longer latch.
The other thing I noticed is that the small fuse block in the left-side of the trunk has a 10A fuse in the fuel-pump fuse slot. That fuse, according the "map" in the lid is supposed to be a 25A fuse. Guess I'll be replacing that thing too.....
I think you still got a great car, and hopefully I will get to check it out at the Z meet if I can make it, but the previous owner definitely ran nitrous on your car.

Yep, it's lookin like it was a nitrous car. I'm less than thrilled, but it is what it is. I wonder if there are any "underhood" things I should be looking at to make sure the nitrous system was undone correctly up there.
Hope you can make it out to the Active Tuning meet. I see Mark is supposed to come out...I'm looking forward to meeting him.
viperspray was right on the moey. i had my bottle heater in there ad waiting at the line with it on for 10 minutes must have overloaded the fuse during the burnout. theres nothing wrong with a nitrous car bro, unless it aint running you golden.
