that's a collectors item and a piece of history not a car to race, although what the vintage and historical racing car age theshold? It should be elidgeable in a few more years. My guess is that for racing the CC is probably just as capable on the track.

Not even close. The GTSR is far and away a better race car than the Comp Coupe.

Hey Jonathan -

You know anything about this specific car? I have heard that it may not be a Oreca engine anymore - ie - built after it was raced by them. Also heard that one of the owners was racing it in the bay area for a while. My ol man is sort of interested, but not at that price.

The price is steep because of the racing history involved. Caldwell Development Inc (down in San Diego, but no longer in business) used to build the motors. Kevin Singleton of Exotic Motors in Temecula probably worked on the original motor as he worked on the GTSR engines for Oreca. Point of reference, those former Oreca GTSR's that were for sale several months ago were both bought by a guy in Newport Beach. He paid around $100K for each. They need a little TLC and they don't have the same racing pedigree as the one listed for $350K. With any race car the price jumps dramatically if there is some serious racing history with the car.

So it doesn't matter that this was the winning car (s) in Lemans, to demand such a price for it? I think they said it finished 8th in a race and like top 10 in another and that was it.

Since I am not very well educated in Viper racing, what is it about the GTSR that makes it much better than a comp coupe? After all, one would think that the newer car is going to be a better racecar.
