Just put the Srt front calipers and rotors on the front and stock rotors and calipers on the rear. Thanks to Daves Viper Shop and John at parts rack for getting me all the parts for the car so fast. Dave is a great guy to work with and got everything to me asap. His kit is very complete and all the billet parts and hardware are top notch! The brakes work alot better now, Only problem I'm having is the rear brakes lock up first and very prematurly, guess I will be needing a proportioning valve asap, any recomendations?
They look really nice! How much did the conversion cost?
about $2400, 2 srt calipers, daves adapter kits and 4 rotors, 4 sets of pads. I have a 4 piston in the back already and it's too much I cant see why I would need more. I think I need a adjustable proportioning valve right now to get rid of the back brakes a bit.
Any downside to running the SRT's in from with stock Gen 2 brakes in back?
Yes, the bias is already too much on the fronts. Gen II's need more bias in the rear. You can have your stock rear calipers upgraded with 40mm pistons with significant positive effect.
From what I understand, the Gen III Viper does not have a proportioning valve per se, but instead the computer on the car runs algorithyms that in conjunction with controling the ABS dynamically control how much pressure the rear calipers recieve. It's not a static proportion of what the front calipers recieve.
That said, I'd just plumb a manual proportioning valve into the rear brake line, preferably accessible from the driver's seat, then take the car out to a nice flat straight road and test and adjust it until the fronts lockup just before the rear. Others may have better/more high tech ideas.
