For those that e-mailed me...76mm turbos

Sorry to the guys that e-mailed me on the board here, I have not been able to find the e-mails that were sent. I will post some info for those interested.

To the guys asking about 76GTS vs 76MPS we tested. The 76 GTS's are turned down GT42's with a smaller stub diameter to get a 312 bore. The GTS turbine is several grams heavier then the MPS turbine and its also a larger diameter wheel. The MPS will spool about 150rpms quicker then the GTS's and will make almost identical power on a 488-540ci engine. Also the compressor wheels are the same pitch, blade count and I/E ratio (ala trim). We have some new turbines we are working on for the larger engines to try out next. Also all the current turbo kits out there will work with these turbos as they use the same foot print as the 76GTS. Let me know if you need any more info. Also the new Dual BB GTS's are still be tested throughly. We are working on a vibration we are getting at twice the first critical speed of the assembly. Once we get the vibration down to an acceptable level they will be released to the public....Thanks

Jose

What is the difference between a GT42R dBB 76mm and a dBB 76GTS?

The GT42-76 R is a larger 325 shaft unit, so the internals weigh more. Also the DBB is a steel bearing construction and is not rebuildable. Ours is a full ceramic ball bearing structure, is fully rebuildable and uses the lighter 312 shaft unit.

This is all a hoax. All 76's are the same and, furthermore, they are the best turbo, period.

The difference between a 76 P-trim and S76 is about 325hp.

A little more info to share....here is a picture of an S-series unit. Larger frame, but can be done in a 76mm as well. This will greatly outpower a standard T4 small frame 76.

Jose, after having had 61, 62, 64, 66, 67, 72, 74 76 and 80 mm turbo's, one thing that i've not really played with (tested) is the anti-surge housing. From everything I've seen, as long as your combo doesn't surge, the anit-surge housing ends up adding lag and decreasing top end power. What are your thoughts on this?

Yes if your setup does not need a re-flow cover then don't use one. A typical re-flow cover will cut output down by as much as 10-15%. Also it will add lag to the system since with a re-flow cover the compressed air now has a less restrictive path. Also their are tricks to running a non-reflow cover on a small cube engine and getting no surge .
