muffler delete on gen 1 (side pipes)

I have a '94 that I drive as a toy on sunny days with no windows, no top. It is so quiet it bugs me. I don't want to change the exhaust, nor take off the cats ('don't want the smell- w/ the side exits)----its just too low mileage and want too keep it stock. I just want to know if deleting the mufflers is something that anyone else with side-exhausts has done, and what does it sound like.
1) is it easy to do (ie.- accessible)? (I have only seen the underside once and don't remember where the mufflers are exactly).
2) is it a "stupid" loud at idle/low revs (or too loud only when pushed)

Again, I only drive for cruise purposes, and am not worried about closed-cabin drone, never had the windows/top in once.

-thx

Did it on my 95 and also on dad's 01. Perfect. Your 94 won't require simms or anything. I had the cat cut out and stainless pipe welded in. My dad had the cat cut down the center on the seam, removed the guts, and welded back. Required zero $$, no parts. Just lunch for welder at work.

replace w/ free flow or delete the mufflers, and it will sound (and go) a lot better.
get free flow cats, or delete cats altogether, and you'll be a happy man. MUCH cooler sidesills also. I have an extra pair of Hennessey cats that are basically split and gutted stock cats. Quite popular, easily passed smog, good performance, and quite expensive back in the day. PM me if you are interested in them.
