Ok, so I need to replace this but before I call Sean Roe I want to know what I'm dealing with and not just say "I Need the little black box thingie with wires and stuff" If anyone can tell me exactly what this is I would appreciate it.
yep, that is what it is. You only need this if you are using low impedience injectors. If you are not using the VEC 2 for a supercharger, double check the resistance on your injectors before using this.
You also have another black box that contains components for the factory pcm to look at. Vec2's had these from the beginning. If you have dark blue or lime green injectors this is probably what it is. If your injectors are fairly recent models with black tops then it could be the injector driver box.
Tony sorry, I'm not very vec inclined, care to break that down a bit clearer for a normal person?
My injectors are as far as I know stock, I haven't changed them and i doubt the person who owned this car before me changed them as well
If you don't have a s/c and your injectors are stock then that is not the injector driver box....it would be the "other" black box that would normally come with a Vec2. Sean or Dave will know what you need. You could just get another box at Radio Shack and swap the internals.
This is the stock injector driver load box. Since the VEC2 has it's own injector drivers, the now unconnected injector drivers in the PCM need to have a dummy load placed on them.
If you had low impedence aftermarket injectors, a 2nd larger box is added to change the circuit impedance from about 2 ohms to 12 ohms to match the high impedance injector drivers of the VEC2. That box basically just contains high wattage 10 ohm resistors.

You do need the one box, it goes along with the Vec2....call Roe and all will be fine
The box the other guys were talking about is for something else....on a need to know basis
p.s. What Ken said in different terms is: In the black box are the components to make the factory pcm think it is controlling injectors.....just there to keep the pcm happy......and then the Vec2 can do it's thing.

IF his VEC2 was supplied with a supercharger then it is probably the resistor box. Does the box have a harness with plugs that fit the injectors? If so then that is what it is and you do not need it with stock injectors.

I'm thinking (now) that he only has the Vec2 and not the S/C.
