What does one get to be a member of the VCA, meaning, what are the bennies?

The ONLY benefit I have found is that being a VCA member gets you some discounts on Viper stuff. Chuck Tator discounts Dodge parts an extra 10% for VCA members. That is the ONLY benefit to my knowledge for your hundred clams.

Viper Days give a $50 discount for first event of the year, and an additional $50 for first timer. Skip Barber gives a 10% discount on any advanced school. PartsRack gives significant discounts.

Periodically Dodge has issued coupons for employee pricing to VCA members. VCA members have been given first dibs on new car introductions. VCA members have gotten special cars made. VCA members are the only folks who can tour CAAP. VCA members can participate in some great raffles.

If you utilize it - it can easily pay for itself.

However, the real reason to join is for your local club interaction.

The VCA itself is like any other car club, and except for the skeletons that lurk in the closet, is mostly local groups of people who share a common interest and like being involved in the community. I find only a small percentage of actual local members are aware of the website and any drama that occurs because of it.

Deals made without membership involvement, stonewalling legit questions about club business and outright misappropriation or mismanagement of funds go to the core of how any club is run. If you are truly a member organization then the members have a right to be informed of decisions and/or agreements being made. Those who make these deals are accountable to their members - period.

I suspect that most officers are not aware of the actual relationship between Jay and the club; so it'll take some effort on their parts to get involved to find out.

Anything new on the Viper Jay saga. My request for financials lacked suffucient detail to understand anything about the website finances. You would think that if there was a moiney flow either to or from Herbert that there would have to be a clear paper trail. If not the IRS may be interested.

I don't think you will get an answer. When we moved we had to change internet providers and email. Well I forgot my password to the VCA and have tried on several occasions to have them send me stuff to the new email. Not a single responce. I guess they have the membership money so who cares. I gave them user name, old email, new email...

The VCA definitely has issues with their bookkeeping and clerical responsibilities. I know of guys who joined and got nothing, no confirmation no paperwork nothing for months. That's outrageous. The credit card was charged right away. Despite the obvious reality that the VCA and the website has so far outgrown having Ned as the chief cook and bottlewasher nothing is done. I would love to see that contract.

How About This Idea:

1. Get One Of Our Fine Wordsmiths Like Kenny Or Schill To Draft A Nice Letter Asking Asking The Questions We Want Answers For With Respect To The Vca.

2. Have Actual Viper Owners And Vca Members Sign It.

3. Send Copies Via Certified Mail To:
Vca Officers
Jr Thompsom Company
Vice President Of Dodge Division
And Dr. Z

I Can Provide Office Address For The Dodge Execs.

So When The Vca And Jr Thompson Company Get The Letter And See That The People Who Sign Their Checks Got A Copy, Then They Will Realize That They Cant Ignore It.

I think the VOI will be a great place to address this, that way they can't ignore us and we can lock the doors until we get an answer. 1,100 pissed off Viper owners demanding to know where our membership fees go would be a pretty intimidating sight. I think a lynch mob is in order, I'll bring the pitchforks and torches.

I was the president of an association, and our treasurer was embezzling money. I had no idea, and would have NEVER even thought she was capable of doing such a thing. She was very likeable and I knew it would be very ugly if people found out what she did. But the fact is it was the association's money she was taking, and the members had the right to know; I don't see how this is ANY different.

Yes, I have the financials. They lack the clarity and detail to understand anything about the web site though. And no notation of fees paid to Jay.

I would think that any payment would require an IRS form of some sort (1098, 1099, ...)

vague financials are no financials at all. sounds like more VCA smoke meant to cover tracks.....

What do you feel is worse: actually paying that little ass-weasel to do nothing more than delete everyone's posts, or trying to hide the fact that he's on the payroll (funds provided by VCA members)? The more they try to act like it doesn't exist, the more attention it draws; ironically the same is true for his little crusade against Sherri's Bar-b-que.

I bet if they had been truthful from the start, there would have been a few grumblings and it would have been forgotten long ago. It's human nature to want something more when you're told you can't have it.

It would be very easy to distribute a flier to every Viper owner at the VOI in Sept detailing whats going on here. Lets see if Flanders can go around Vegas deleting them.
