Match Race May 20th - Wanted Vs. Ranger - Viper Vs C6z06
At the VETTE/VIPER SHOOTOUT May 20th I have a match race set up with one
of the best Vette drivers of the new Z06. The guy goes by the name of Ranger
on Vette and Viper forums. We both were racing the same day but in a different class so we never had the chance to race against each other. Ranger
has posted the fastest times yet by the new Z06. His best time that day was
11.31 and my best the same day was 11.55. The race will be heads up. We
are running against are index times posted that day but I'm sure everyone
attending will want to see from a heads up race who gets the win light. I seem
to be a better ET racer then Ranger which should give me a slight edge only
at the tree. If I'm going to win it will have to happen at the tree. Ranger is
a extremely good driver and this will be a very close race. I hope to kick ass
and belive me I'm racing to win. Hope some of you guys make it to the race.
You will see post about this race in the other Viper and Corvette forum if you
care to take a look.
Either way you are a fantastic viper driver. the numbers you are accomplish shows that dodge has greatly underestimated the performance of the Gen 2 viper.. I use those numbers when people ask me the abilities of this car..
I wonder what you would do with a Gen 3? vs his z06..
Where are you racing? ATCO by chance?

Thanks for the compliment. My Viper is a 2002 rt/10. The race will be this
Saturday at Cecil County Dragway during the Vette/Viper Shootout in Rising
Sun, Md. We will be running a best of three as long as we don't get booted.
Also we are running against index times we ran about a month ago at the
same track, same day. His best time was 11.31 and mine that day was 11.55.
I seem to be better at the tree, so thats where I will either win or lose the
race.
I believe it's only about one hour from ATCO. It will be a good race to see.

Oops! Thanks for the correction! I keep picturing his ride as a grey GTS! Regardless, good luck! If you win, it will be great feat, if you lose, your numbers alone are admirable!
Yes the Z is 100% stock. The guy, Ranger, has posted the fastest times yet
recorded for the new Z06. The nice thing about Ranger is he's not an asshole. He knows how to get the most out of his car and can drive. He does
run DR's sometimes and has ran 11.2's with them on. I might run DR'S on a
couple of my runs on saturday, just to see what it does. I will be posting all
my time slips after the weekend.
Have you tried dragging any other car? if so how did you do? I really want to see someone with your skills behind the new Z, and a Gen 3 viper..
I have owned 2 gen III vipers. The best time I could get out of either was
12.06. My best 60' time for a genIII was 1.8 and on that run i missed 3rd.
That run could very well had been in the high 11's - 11.9's. The gen III is a terrible car to dragrace because of the large rear tire and it's almost impossible to get a good hole shot. My runs were done on hot humid days as well, not the best conditions. IMHO I feel the genIII is a much better track car (road course) then drag racing. My genIII's felt faster but just hard to get a good 1/4 mile run.
The race organizer is trying to get some media attention around this race. Should be interesting to watch. Two great drivers in fairly comperable cars.
