CHRIS MARSHALL IS ONE OF THE FEW GOOD GUYS AMONG THE DORKS AND SOCIAL MISFITS IN THE VIPER CLUB LEADERSHIP. SO YOU WOULD EXPECT THE VCA TO RUN A GUY LIKE CHRIS OUT THE DOOR - PROBABLY BECAUSE HE TRIES TO DO THE RIGHT THING FOR HIS CLUB MEMBERS INSTEAD OF SUCK UP TO THE VIPER NAZIS OVER HIM.
VCA - YOU STARTED OFF AS A GREAT ORGANIZATION. BUT FROM ABOUT 2000 TIL NOW YOU HAVE GONE STRAIGHT DOWN THE SHITTER.
Good luck, Chris; you'd think they could have at least given everyone a little more timely notice... Late Friday afternoon on Mothers Day weekend for a Monday deadline sounds more like someone covering their asses than really trying to be helpful.
Interestingly enough, the vote at the last VOI inspired alot of people to think that positive changes that were long overdue were underway. Apparently not so much.

You are 100% right about Chris being a great guy and a great leader. He has made the KC Viper Club one of the strongest clubs in the country and based on the statistics, I believe that our club's attendance at events is generally one of the highest percentages based on membership. On average 80-90% of our members attend Rendezvous and VOI's, I believe. A great deal of that participation is due to Chris' leadership. He's an incredible asset to our local club and to VCA National.
We will make sure he has all 25 signatures before Monday. That's a promise.
Thanks, John, for bringing this to the attention of the Alley members.

Chris is a great guy and has a great deal of support in the Viper Community. I suppose the powers that be might be a little intimidated by that, to bad for them.
If they run Chris out the door then I would support him to start a new Viper Owners Association of some sort.
the VCA has terminal cancer. it is only kept on life support via Dodge's help. at some point Dodge will kick them to the curb. when that happens then they are history.
i was a founding member of the Viper Club and i remember what a great organization it was in the early years with Maurice Liang and Gary Lashinsky in leadership positions. Dodge marketing mgr Ron Smith was also a big influence on the quality and success of the young organization.
over time the regional and national leadership grew into a "good ole boy" cronney network. regional vca presidents liked the special perks given to them like special plant tours, connections to key factory personel (one guy still sells DCX insurance i am pretty sure), inside scoop on product, etc. so many of these viper owners began to leverage their positions for their own benefit - rather than trying to help represent the local members best intererests.
Jay Herbert ran the VCA website and probably made enough money off it over the years so that he could afford to buy a wrecked Viper - that was the only way that this guy could even get into the organization he so badly wanted to be a member of. now he has a significant voice within the viper club leadership - how scary is that?
the VCA leadership is full of "go along to get along - business as usual" viper owners who all work hard to scratch each others backs well before take care of the viper owners they represent. guys like VCA president refer to them as "unpaid volunteers" and that they can only be asked to do so much. well that is total BS. how about asking these clowns to stop stroking the system and getting all the special favors and perks.
HOW ABOUT HAVING A NATIONAL ELECTION OF VIPER CLUB LEADERS WHERE EACH VIPER OWNER VOTES? RATHER THAN HAVING THE VCA PRESIDENTS AS THE ONLY ONES WHO ACTUALLY VOTE!
i suppose i really shouldnt give a crap about the VCA. they wont let me be a member even though i have bought about 20+ Vipers in the last 10 yrs. but when they fuck with a guy like Chris Marshall - then it really pisses me off.
Maybe a major magazine should expose this organization for what it is? does anyone have a good media contacts?
Thanks for making us aware of this since I rarely go to the VCA website. Chris is truly an asset to the VCA and gives a tremendous amount of his time to putting on events and helping other members. If they threw him under the bus I would immediately cancel my membership.
While we are on the topic of VCA and more specifically the VCA website, I feel I am among a growing group that sees Jay Hebert as the biggest liability to the VCA. I don't know if you read some of his posts on a thread concerning your participation in the One Lap, but they were offensively biased and innaccurate at best and libelous at worst. When I cautioned him about his continuing persecution of you being not only unprofessional, but also putting VCA in what I felt (in my opinion as an attorney) was a legally precarious position, he immediately deleted the entire thread.
Guys, lets not only make sure that people like Chris stay in leadership positions where they belong, but that also people in the VCA who are using their positions in the organization to push their private agendas get ousted for it.
One thing to keep in mind, and I've posted about it on their site, Jay Herbert is the only person in the VCA who gets paid for his work. For someone who is actually paid for their work on the website, it's clear to everyone they haven't been getting their money's worth.
