New Member Needs Help With Gts

Hello, I just became a member here. I just bought a 1997 GTS with 13k on it. I have had other vipers before, this one feels slow to me. Not slow but slower than the others. It is all stock. It keeps giving me a engine light though. Seems to miss or idle rough. Engine code goes something like this.
Manufacture defect or misfire. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this??

If you plug it in you will get a code which tells you the problem. If you have headers might be an O2 sensor, '97s are notorious for their rough, lumpy cam idle which is normal.

The code it gives is not a part malfunction. Just says - manufacture defect or misfire.

Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and re-connect, see what happens.

I did the plugs, how in the world do you change the wires. Where is the coil, looked like it was on the rear of the motor at a place where I couldn't get to. I put champion copper plus plugs into yesterday. How hard is the fuel filter to change?? Do you recomend k&n filter replacements or are they a waste of money??

I looked over the car and agree. Will do and keep you posted although I do not believe that is the problem.

Dealer

Well took it to the dodge dealership and they tell me I need a intake gasket set installed due to it leaking, two new coils, plug wires, and of course spark plugs. I already changed the plugs ten miles ago?? Not hte right ones they say. It will be 900+ dollars you want us to order the parts and get started. I said no just order the parts and I will do it myself. So they did, and they didn't seem very happy about it. I got hose and took the intake off, and the gaskets look perfect to me in everyway. My old plugs were very white and looked as if it were running really lean. It was always getting hotter than I would like it as well. the guy/dealer I bought it from said all 96 97 are like that and none of them will idle and the yall get hot. I asked about hte engine light and he said that is common. Does anybody have any suggestions from here? Also does anybody know the correct torque specs for the intake?? Much appriciated.

Pop off the wiper blade covers to get to the bolts that hold the wiper arms on , then pull the cowl.
