I have read all of the comments on what this does and doesn't do and I would like to give it a try as I have most of the things done that this computer requires for maximum performance gains.
It should work. The 96 RT/10 was equipped with the JTEC controller, making it OBDII compliant. However, the '96 JTEC is the one everyone wants when piggybacking the VEC2. It apparently adds a lot more flexibility than the later models.

So are you saying I shouldn't do this or just that I should keep my factory ECu in case I want to do the VEC2 later ?
Try the Mopar controller. Some folks get some benefit from it, but from what I've read, less than half feel it was worthwhile. Definitely keep your stocker.
