I don't speak Swedish, but I went to that thread and looked at all 21 pages just to see the pictures and I am absolutely floored. Your project is stunning in both its scope and attention to detail. Fantasticly executed. I would love to hear the details.
Glad you like the project.
The Viper is built according to the NHRA Super Stock Rules. I will have a NA engine connected to the 9" Rear End through a Advanced Clutches Clutch and a Jerico DR-4 Gear box. I raced my RT/10 for som years and didn't like the behaviour of the chassie, so I decided to go all the way with my GTS. The coming Viper Mag have some information of the history. They will probably do a follow up after the summer :-)
The Debut depends on the engine. Kevin scheduled it for Dyno this week, If everything works out fine will we do the shake down first week of June. Race the week after.
I would really love more info on this car. It is one of the most interesting things I have seen here in a while. I've checked this thread a half dozen times today.
I' weren't allowd to upload more then one more picture today, so here is a view of the intake runner. The closest head is stock. The one behind with more narrow runners is the race head.
When building a Super Stock Engine there is many things to consider. The rules are very clear.
Stock piston design
Stock Intake/exhaust runner volumes
Stock Valve size
Max 070 OD
Stock Oil system
Stock TBO/Carb
etc.
On the otherhand do we have free Camshaft, Valve Train, Intake manifold, Headers...
As this is a NA Motor is one of the big challenges to find flow enough in the cylinder heads, remember that we have stock valve size and runner volumes... After a lot of welding and many, many hours of work with the heads are we despite the limiting factors in levels with the GTS/R heads... (that with a "stock" head)
One other challenge have been to get the Rockers to stay in place. Our Camshaft Design is WERY agressive so we had to fabricate girdels that were bolted under the Head bolts...
Next was the Intake design, tried some of the established manufacturers solutions, no good. Own design flows better and make the limiting factor with stock TBOs to an advantage for us, What you is shown on the Zatzy Forum picture is not what we ended up with.
That was just a few things about the engine.
Expected HP...This is a Drag Race Car, my goal is to be in the 8 sec bracket if needed. But the car wil bet set up to qualify in 9.1 - 9.30 bracket.
To be there with a 3500pound car you need more the 800hp and a good chassie.
Take Care
