Ok, guys I need some advice. As my luck would have it, I just received my 3rd ticket within a year. Under IL laws, I am reading that this could lead to suspension of drivers license. Now granted, the first ticket was in a different county (not sure if that makes any difference and was over few months ago).
Soooo, my question is do I get an attorney BEFORE I go to court (Du Page county for folks in Chicagoland)? I
Iam going to do my best to plea my case on this last ticket (running red light - but I was in the intersection when it was yellow). Your advice would be greatly appreciate it.
Side note, the first ticket was in under court supervision. I am planning to pull my driving record to see if i have 3 convictions....
Find a lawyer who deals in traffic issues and a very high percentage of time he can get it reduced. You will need to hire him prior to the court date so he can get a postponement and then meet with the prosecuting attorney to iron out the settlement. If you have recently gone this route with a plea deal your chances are not so good. Usually you will have to attend a drivers ed class between the original court date and the rescheduled date so the lawyer can provide this to the prosecuting attorney. Good Luck, it differs in every state and none of the above may work for you.
Dupage county. Had millions of tickets on the crotch rockets. Next time you might want to get a lawyer immedietely on all tickets as they get you probation that ends when you walk out of court.
Typical lawyer fee is about $150 and you'll get a $100 fine.
But now that we are at three. Here is how it will work. You will have to take idiot school to get probation. You gotta pay for lawyer, court fees and idiot school.
I suggest you obey the law to the letter. I know it hurts and shouldn't happen to anyone. But you got yourself into this. Strap on that seat belt and don't exceed the speed limit in your viper at all until 2 of those tickets have expired. If not in a viper live it up..exceed the limit by 5mph
Different counties used to not have visibility of other county tickets. BAck in the day. Back in the day I got six tickets in 3 months.
But now through the miracle of technology that bonehead that is known as the assistant DA will know exactly what tickets you have. You are also going to get a letter from the state slapping your pee pee.
So get a lawyer to get idiot school and probation or get a lawyer later to get you a hardship liscense to drive to work.
Now going in and explaining the officer is wrong the light was yellow simply isn't going to work. The cops word is law and your's means nothing.
Live it. Love it.
They ought to be ticketing those slow bastards clogging up the passing lane
It does suck doesn't it.. I seem to always get in trouble with tickets.. It's a rough system they have in the US.. and to be honest I don't really see it as working.. (I got a 340 dollar ticket for 89 mph in virginia, they considered that WRECKLESS DRIVING) and they said it could get me JAIL TIME..
We're obviously in a country that is a little fubared up when it comes to driving laws.. Europe is MUCH MUCH less strict..
Sb my response to you bounces so here is my answer:
y guy is now in the divorce racket. He says it pays better. About 1.5
years ago I got two speeders in two days. One was on four lane at 4:30 am
w no traffic on weekday going to work. Damn naperville cops. Had to drive
according to all rules for a full year. My teenagers where quite amused.
Actually I think I paid my guy $220. So your guy seems reasonable
They will know about your ticket. And i assure you if you go without a
lawyer and they convict you the state will revoke the liscense. You have
to get a lawyer at this point if you want to keep your liscense.
And the DA will be salaviating to get your liscence wacked. They are real
pricks whos evals are based on percentage of convictions. They could care
less if you are innocent.
I'm not a lawyer altho it sounds like it. But 3 movers you gotta pay the
system and the system is you pay a lawyer you get a break. Thats how the
judges started and thats how they perpetuate the racket.
Be glad you're not in Wisconsin where they take more points off your liscence the faster they nab you. But also remember that if you floor a rental from switzerland to amsterdam you can get there in about 5 hours.
SB, SB...what am I going to do with you? Didn't you learn while driving around with me that driving like a Grandma keeps you out of trouble? I guess Max was right, LOL!!! Plus the cops will focus more on my car rather than your bumblebee when I'm around.
Let me know if you need a ride to work since it's on the way. You will just have to start no earlier than 10:00 a.m. because I'm no early bird.
Seriously...Good luck and I would agree to get a lawyer at this point in time. Let's meet up soon.
Not sure about that waiting until the other 2 tickets expire thingy? You will get a 1 year probation....which means 1 year from the date that you get it, no screw ups, and you are good to go. Now, insurance company will know what has happened...so don't be too surprised when you hear from them about how much of a risk that you are to them...so expect more $$$ to be going to them.
If you got busted for speeding 3 times, they may not be so kind. A guy here at work got busted for that, got the lawyer, and the best he could get was a work permit to drive... for a year. It all depends on what you did
ZX1100 - this is all your fault. You force me to drive faster b/c you are driving like Grand Mosses
angleiron - please buy my freaking Viper so I can drive to work. haha Seriously, I am getting an attorney immediately to prepare a case. Here's my driving history:
No tickets for years until I moved to this wonderful state of IL
4 months ago - mr skinhead schaumburg cop pulls me over for squealing tires. Trust me I wasn't even burning tire or anything - a minor tire slippage. Gets me for tinted windows and no front plates. I get off with fine and court supervsion
3 weeks ago - speeding 62 in 45mph zone in Roselle (du page county)
2 days ago - disobeying traffic light when i was in the intersection by yellow light.
Tickets in TEXAS are no more than a phone call and a credit card to get taken care of. We have ticket attorneys on every corner. Most get the ticket put off for a year and when they go to court for you the year old ticket is dismissed, love my Texas ticket attorney.
