Quickest 6-Speed Street Supra vs. Quickest 6-Speed Street Viper Timeslips
As we gear up for TX2K6 - Supra Nationals by MVP / RSI V-10 Challenge, I thought it would be fun to analyze side by side the two baddest street cars in the land. Of course, I count the Heffner car as one of the baddest, but Chad, I don't have your timeslip here, can you post it??? Anyhow, the two cars i'm talking about are Ryan Woon's full weight Supra and David Boggs full weight Viper. Both 6-speeds, both truly badass machines.
Ryan Woon's Time Slip
1.38 60 ft
5.66@126 1/8 mile
7.22 1000 ft
8.62@169 1/4 mile
David Boggs Time Slip
1.40 60 ft
5.88@129 1/8 mile
7.33 1000 ft
8.55@174 1/4 mile
Also, Ryan has gone 171.28, so the ol Supra has some more in it!
To me, it's AMAZING how David's car made up over 2/10th's deficit in the 1/8 mile and over 1/10th's deficit at the 1000 ft mark to end up almost 1/100th's ahead of the Supra on the top end. SICK power up top, imagine if David's car 60 ft'ed in the 1.3's...

Very impressive Supra but what you don't see is the Supra on the street probably makes 200HP until 5000RPM, it would be shitty to drive that car on the street.
Also, it seems like the Supra would be much easier to drive on the street b/c when driving around it's much more tame. The Viper has all the TQ in the world off idle = wheel spin
Just having some fun guys, that's all, I can't wait for the meet in March!!!!
Viper4Christ - we're talking full weight 6-speed cars, not automatic cars.

as much usable power yes...but not on the street in reality....those charts dont even show stock Viper power till 5k+...and who is going to put around town revving through the ceiling just to make power....with a TT Viper you can put around shifting at 2500RPM and you are moving...this is what im getting at....no knock on the Supra at all....but in REALITY it doesnt have as much usable power...on the track maybe...but not for every day driving...but you do have a good point about it being maybe a little more civil in the low RPMS...
Re: Quickest 6-Speed Street Supra vs. Quickest 6-Speed Street Viper Timesli
Stupid arguments. How about someone starts brining up the fact that the Supra is MUCH more comfortable to drive? Or that the Supra is doing all this with a 100% stock tranny and halfshafts? Yes these too are stupid arguments.
Peter has a point about useable RPM. Ryan's revving that car to 9500+ RPM's, and there's no reason why you can't do that on the street.
The one place where the Viper certainly has the Supra covered is the traction department on regular street tires, big difference there.

I think the most amazing thing about it is the top end power of the Viper, to make up that deficit in the 1/8 mile and the 1000 ft shows how much power that bad boy is making. We all know Ryan was running around 1350-1400 rwhp on that pass.

Lets not forget the Yellow car has gone a lot faster in the 1/8 then that 8.55 pass. On a prior pass we went 5.60 @ 134. The Viper on that pass was very violent through second and I got out of the groove but stayed in it until I almost took out the 1/8 mile box and then I lifted. From there I had KC take out A LOT of boost through 1st and 2nd and trim some off through 3rd And it was set at full boost through 4th... at ONLY 25psi.
Remember we have not had that much test time because of our work load. Trust me when I say this.... we are just scratching the surface of what these Vipers are capable of without having to use NITROUS!!
The best thing about the Viper to me is that I can go run an 8.55 pass put pump gas in it flip a switch and still make 1000+ rwhp turn on the air and if I need to drive it across the country... what other kind of car can do that??????

Peter, I think it's the torque that makes the Viper pull the living daylights out of 4th gear when they are finally starting to be able to put down the monster power by the 2nd 1/8!
