Installed a 100 shot system in the fall and we now want to up it to 200. I already know what plugs i need and my installer has a wideband to test everything once we change the setup.
My question is what fuel pump should i run with a 200 shot?
I have had several people tell me that it isn't needed, but my installer says for the little extra money it is worth it just to be on the safe side.
I have had many tell me to use walbro. If this is the best to go with what model number do I need?
For a shot that large, I wouldn't draw fuel off the injector rail, but rather from dedicated small fuel cell/carb style electric fuel pump in the engine compartment. But that's just my opinion.
I was not going to change injectors, just lower the plugs two heat ranges and install the better fuel pump more for safety than requirement. I have received info from a few people that have run the same set up and ran a stock pump without issue, but also recommended a walbro just to be on the safe side.
I will look into the MSD as an option. No other mods. I have removed the cats and installed smooth tubes and K+N's, but no actual engine upgrades.
I have looked into using a separate fuel cell, but I was told it was not necessary unless I was going to decide to go over the 200 mark. A couple of people recommend it, so I might just look into it as a third option and just choose which one I think is best.
Anyway, does anyone have the model number or numbers I would need from Walbro if I decide to go that route?
Also, what number am I looking for on the wideband when I test the new setup?
Buysumtime, I have a BTR aluminum cell and fuel pump from a dual stage Viper kit that I bought. I am not using it and would let it go cheap if you want it. They are made to mount in the engine bay.
The 255 lph pump is the model for the 5.0 Mustang. Just check out Summit for the Mustang pump. It is not a direct install, more importantly - you don't need it. Spend the money on a fuel pressure cut-off switch and a fuel pressure gauge that can log, that is a better investment. Just pick up the fuel off of the rail.
You also don't need to change injectors if you are under 500 hp NA. You will find that in most cases you have to pull fuel from the injectors when you go on the bottle.
Thaks for the info Jack B. You and Bigcarrot were very helpful when I was first looking into the nitrous system. I will let my guy know this and see what he says. Thaks again.
