Cut my stock springs? or install the Eibac Pro Kit?
I'm all about drag racing, not road racing. I want a good launch and now I'm thinking about cutting my stock springs and selling my Pro Kit. I was told by a VERY respectful source that cutting about 1.5 coil will lower it and give me a better launch for the strip. Thats what I'm looking for. Any thoughts on this? Has anyone done it? What kind of saw/blade do you use? tips!!!!

I'm serious! None of you cut your springs? It seeks kinda ghetto, but it makes sense. Especially on Viper springs, where the coil doesn't sperad out. It's the same diameter throughout. I know alot of (serious) Mustang drag racers use stock springs from a 4 banger to provide a better launch and sometimes cut them. I don't want a real tight suspention for launches. Weight needs to flow to the rear.

Wow thats ghetto as hell. I would not recommend it because you in your garage with a hack saw could not in a million years cut them evenly and it will look shitty and will ride shitty..........you have a viper why the hell can't you spring the few hundred bucks and get the eibachs?

I have Eibach's now, but I was told the launch will be too tight. Stockers are looser and transfer weight better. cutting them will make them a little lower, but keep them soft, like I want. I plan on drag racing this car so I don't want the suspension too tight.
don't flame tha NeWbiE! bling blaaaw in da hood! LOL!

Ahh but cutting the stock sping will in fact make them stiffer That and it will ride like shit. Just buy softer springs in the proper length and be done with it. Eibach has every spring combination you could ever possibly dream up, just buy the right one.
In some applications cutting springs isn't a bad idea, coilovers don't fall in that classification.

You could try NWE lowering spring caps if you want to retain your stock springs and lower the car slightly (will lower about half of what the Eibachs will.)
I'm only aware of one Eibach front and rear spring rate for the Viper.

Seriosult PM Gary J.. he has done it, and would be able to give you some good advise on it

more than just ride height you should be conerned about. the eibiach kit contains a linear spring in the front and a progressive in the rear (which is bass ackwards). If it's ride height and cash, cut'em, but I wouldn't. go with th eibachs.

SW mentioned that he cut the springs on his Blue/White '97. He said he actually swapped out the Eibachs for them and had a better ride. The car looked great too. Seems like a cheap gamble. If you don't like it you can always get replacement stock springs from someone who's swapped them out.

eibach makes like a billion springs at differnt rates... you can actually go to their website and if you know what spring rate you want and what size spring(s) you need you can pretty much come up with any combo you want...

You can learn a lot from a mustang racer......because they actually race their cars and don't just pose with them! The Viper community seems to have a very limited mindset.
