I just recently bought a 1995 RT/10 without any power modifications. How hard is it to get between 500 to 550 rwhp and what are the best mods to do so?
Well the engine is out. I plan on getting a full exhaust, tune, intake, and port and polish the heads. I don't have a great amount of money since I'm also in my freshman year of college doing architecture. So I think the nitrous would be a good choice but I'm new with this Mopar scene so I wasn't sure what the best things are for the vipers.
My 95 made 525 RWHP and 611 TQ with the NOS 5180 kit and no cats with GenII stock exhaust manifolds and Dynomax mufflers.
If you have the engine out, you might want to consider doing the heads, cam and a good set of long headers. My 95 made 469 RWHP 575 RWTQ on all motor after rebuild, heads ($3000k), Crower Stage I Cam ($600) and Edelbrock Long Headers ($1700). Before when it was stock with just exhaust and filters it only made 378 RWHP and 450 RWTQ.
I mainly noticed the difference when spraying N2O, On stock motor with a 200 shot the car only made 533 RWHP 800 RWTQ, but after heads, cam and headers it made 638 RWHP 801 RWTQ, also the torque did not drop off as fast it more or less gradually dropped to 600 by the end of the pull.
On a gen I a good way to make power would be heads, cam, headers and a Roe Blower, maybe my next upgrade.
N2O is fun and cheap but a blower would be more fun. I have probably run 30 or so 15 lb bottles in my car, that alone adds up after a while. $4 a pound for nitrous and at $60 a bottle fill, it add's up.

That and a supercharger never has to be re-filled.

You only picked up 1 RWTQ with the addition of heads, cam, and headers? That's a typo, right???

$4 per pound??? You are getting royally ass raped. I've never paid more than $2.50.

Nope on spray only picked up 1 foot pound, the difference was the torque did not just spike and drop off like before heads and cam, now it gradually drops off.
No where in my area can you get N2O for $2.50 a pound, there are only 2 or 3 places around in my area that sell it, and it is the same at all 3. There are not a lot of nitrous cars in back woods Pa, so I think they figure they can stick it to you, with a lack of competition.
