Viper Crash at Memphis Motorsports Park
I was at test n tune last night and was told about a crash over the weekend at the National Muscle Car Assoc. drag race last weekend. A Red Viper GTS was involved in a bad crash during competition. The driver's name is Todd Gordon, and he suffered several serious injuries such as a broken neck, collapsed lung, and and leg damage. There are pictures of the car and some reports on what happened on
www.fasteststreetcar.com in the lounge section. Let's hope everything turns out well for Todd and his family.

That sucks. I had e-mailed with Todd before. I believe he ran a BB Chrysler in it. I'm glad he came through and wish him a speedy recovery.

Re: Viper Crash at Memphis Motorsports Park
Sending out a prayer for a full recovery for this man.
God Speed Todd Goodwin.
On another note...
If anything...this car should be looked over top to bottom for the benefit of Viper drag racers in regards to enhancing their safety programs.
I replied on a thread over at the site to show him and his family that people here are pulling for him.

Sorry to hear about Todd. I've seen his car run before.
Very impressive.
Keep us posted on his condition
V10 or not Todd's car I know ran in the 8's. That had to be a nasty wreck !

I've always liked this Viper. I don't think he's running a V10
Who cares :thumb:

Re: Viper Crash at Memphis Motorsports Park
I would also be sure to know what kind of safety equipment the car had. Hard to tell looking at the pics if the cage's integrity was sufficient or not. He is alive, so I guess it was enough.
That is pretty scary and just reinforces how dangerous these cars or any can be when pushing the envelope or just opening it.

Re: Viper Crash at Memphis Motorsports Park
I believe that car runs high eights and holds the record for the division.
I'm sure he has more safety equipment than any of us.

Re: Viper Crash at Memphis Motorsports Park
Can anyone find out the safety equipment he did have?
It would be a huge benefit for us to learn from this Terrible accident. we have been fortunate to have never had a serious wreck in any of the recent viper Events however with the increase of speed and power safety needs to be our Priority.

Re: Viper Crash at Memphis Motorsports Park
Chad and I had talked with him and his crew in the stagging lanes here at Bradenton ....he has a real down to earth racer.
I hope he has a speedy recovery and my prayers are with him and his family.

Re: Viper Crash at Memphis Motorsports Park
From what I have read he ran a 9.08 at 149 before this crash and somebody said that it looked like his throttle stuck wide open as he tried to correct.
