Hello folks, I am about to brave installing a new cat back system. I don't think it will be that bad. Well, I took a look under the car and quickly knew that my current floor jack was not gonna cut it. Can anyone chime in with info on which brand of jack and stands will work.BTW....I did try to use the factory jack and it is a joke.

used the factory jack to install a cat back in your garage????

Take it to a shop and spend the $$$ to get it done before you kill yourself.

If you are DIY kinda guy. Wal-mart has come great 2 ton jacks made in korea for $8.88 :redbeard:

Get one of those aluminum low profile jobs. You can always pull your car up on some 10x2 pieces of wood to get the jack under it. I need to do this even with the low profile jack due to being lowered.

Get the car a couple feet off the ground on jack stands so you have room to work under it.

it's like buttering toast i guess.. some people can still kill themselves with the knife..

just stack up some cinder blocks and lift the car with a 2x4 and a log.

You must have balls.....to work underneath a car supported by the factory jack. Either that, or you're just plain stupid.

I used 2 ramps for the front then jacked up and used 2 jack stands for the
back.

so you worked under a car on 3 points.. and one was a jack that moves up and down easily.. gotcha. :thumb:

Oh my,,,,,,,,I just took a look with the factory jack. I am shocked they even gave that with the car! Anyway, thanks for the help.

Go to the anything goes section and check out the thread of Why women live longer than men one of the first pics shows a safer way than using the factory jack.

Read it again. 2 ramps + 2 jack stands = 4 points.

Me personally - I prefer to simply park on the grass and then dig a hole under the car and work in that.
