Are the head gaskets the same for both Gen 1 and Gen 2 blocks?

Not positive, but I seriously doubt they're interchangeable. Otherwise, Gen1 head gasket replacements wouldn't be so pricey.

I'm pretty sure they are not. Gen I's had a different method of cooling so they have these pipes that run outside the block... very weird. and part of the cooling problems of the genI's also.

gen II head gaskets have gotten cheaper... and you can even get copper gaskets for less than regular! lots of choices here...

Definitely different. New Gen I are now the same material as Gen II, but not interchangeable.
