Building a safe and certifiable cage requires getting a qualified chassis shop to build the cage and getting an NHRA (or whichever governing body you wish to race with) inspector to inspect the cage and hopefully approve it.
We did not have enough time to wait for the roaming inspector to certify my cage before PGD's so we showed up and the event inspector was an NHRA inspector. He checked the cage and gave us a temp pass, good for 90 days.
Once your cage is built, the inspector will certify the cage for I believe 5 years if it passes.
At the very minimum, anyone in the nines and/or breaking 150 should have a cage for sure.

Chad, can you post up a picture of your roll cage with either driver or passenger door open?
Paolo, I'm worse than you at that stuff. There should be plenty floating around. Sorry.
BTW, how's your car coming?
Chad, the engine is being built as we live and breathe.
I have been working solely on the bolt-on DIY and it is coming great!
Fired her up yesterday, sounds awesome!
==>You will beg for mercy! LOL!
I had a question about your roll cage because I remember seeing Toby's pictures of the removeable door bars secured by a pin.....
Are you comfortable with that?
I had never seen that before as my roll cage(although it's a motherfucker to get in and out {especially if you are chubby like TOOOFST}), is all one piece.
I would be worried about the pin coming out if, God forbid, you crashed in such a way that you had a side impactthat would tweak that bar funny and the pin let loose.
Even though it would be less comfortable, I would recommend you getting that to be a one piece bar.
Even if you get a fixed bar, it won't be so bad getting in and out once you figure out how to do it!
I can get in and out of my car a lot faster than an 8.75! LOL!
Need to be park gumby and part Cirque de Sole (sp?) performer to get into PC's car. LOL. Any one else gets in thecar its like a america's funniest home videos clip, but if you see paolo get in and out you wouldn't even know there was a cage.

I don't know about the legality of the cage from the pictures, but without a window net on the drivers side, that car would be ousted from NHRA tracks.....just some FYI for inquiring minds. (a window net must be attached
to the drivers side of the roll cage to prevent the driver extremities from
extending out of the window of the vehicle in the event of an accident. The window net must be SFI approved and may be removable. It must conceal the
area of the drivers side window when attached)
No problem.....nothing against your setup either. Just noticing that the
window net is not installed. It's hard enough getting in and out of a Viper without any safety equipment. I just can't bring myself to install more equipment in mine...but then again I am a second and 20 mph slower than you..LOL
