Best drivers in the 1/4
With the season getting started, I was pondering who the best drivers were.
This would be a short list of mine:
Tony Armour
Scott Weick
Kevin Howeth when he leaves his dancing shoes at home
Lee Saunders
BTR Tom
Ones to watch:
Gary Javo
Ward - Cudaman
Joe Dell
Lots of good drivers out there but these guys stick out in my mind. I'm sure I forgot one or two and will be editing.
Who makes it on your list?

SW is not Big Gun Scott, so you may want to add SW to your list. Although it seems like he may have hung up his drag racing shoes.
Albert has always been fast. He used to run his own car and then started driving Rohn's car.

AEM units can track your shift times. Maybe that will help you guys figure where you are at.

Re: Best drivers in the 1/4
Joe Dell, Gary Javo...........paaaalease..........these guys have over a 1000 hp and cant get a 9 to light up on the board and the street doesn't translate to track times.:thumb:
My list would be a little different I think it is about those who get the car to run at its full potential. Not just those who run a decent time with a bunch of power.
My choices would be Paul running 11.70 in a stock RT on street tires. Or the other Paul S. running 11.0s with bolt ons. And of course me running 10.19 with 620 rwhp in an RT. I know they arent 8's or 9's, but I think these cars are close to their limit as far as et goes.
I went to DLM's site and punched in hp and weight to see what cars "should" run and what the so called drivers "actually" run and I am not that impressed.
Never driven a turbo car, but I bet I could make a 9 second pass in one with no problem.
John

Re: Best drivers in the 1/4
But Tony would be my #1 choice since his car with less than 800 at the wheels has run 9.50's even though his short times were shit in Bradenton.

Re: Best drivers in the 1/4
There are two "oops" that I said I would make.....Mr. Chlouber on the Big-timers list and Mr. Dawg on the Ones to Watch.
To clarify, my Ones to Watch category are guys I feel are improving every time out and have the potential to be VERY GOOD, FWIW.

Re: Best drivers in the 1/4
I was doing some thinking and Nick Field should be on the list. His showing at almost every race he attends is in the 9.50 range with several cars. ( He did not attend too many V-10 races and does not post much so he is not as well known.

I have logged shifts with my wideband as well and there is normally a .30 to .35 second gap between where my rpms stop(around 5400) and where they pick up(around 4200). Power on to power off to power back on.
That time includes letting off the gas and hitting the clutch, shifting the gear, releasing the clutch and hitting the gas again. Havent heard of anyone elses times, so how does that rank with what you have seen.
I guess some powershift, but I dont.
John
ps - maybe I should get an auto. even though the car is still accelerating, that is an awful lot of of time of the gas.

Re: Best drivers in the 1/4
A list of this nature would not be complete without mentioning Yellowstain and 2Manytoys. Both of these guys have been known to shift like Don Knotts on crack. Both will have to be reckoned with this year.
