StopTech Brakes w/ 96-98 stock wheels

Hello everyone!

I was looking at the Stoptech system; item # 83-260-4643 on their website!

It says it's good with the 17" wheels, just curious if anyone has used this system maintaining the stock wheels? Any issues with mounting and/or clearance?

Thanks for the help in advance, I need brakes........BAD!

Peace!

Posin' or trackin'? Either way you are updating a car that's more than 7 years old so your tracking days are numbered.

FWIW I've had the big brake front kit on my 97 for 5 years with no problems.

They even fit under 16" wheels and stop MUCH better than stock.

Re: StopTech Brakes w/ 96-98 stock wheels

Chuck....more "posin'" than "trackin'"........but, I'd like something to bring me down from my upper MPH runs! So, is doing front and rear worth it, or are the fronts enough? Maybe pull downs from 150++, sometimes pretty hard....

This past weekend I was out playing around with some friends...long story short, coming down was not fun! I've more than toasted those poor eradispeeds', about three good pull downs and they were done.....

Thanks for the help guys......

That's your problem.

Switch to Brakeman3 or PFC. Get them from Steve Pasztor 972-743-9443 at www.GreatBrakes.com

Re: StopTech Brakes w/ 96-98 stock wheels

For anything less than serious track use you're fine with just upgrading the fronts. Even then the rears aren't too much of an absolute necessity.

Mike, I think better pads and the 40 mm (stock is 36 mm)rear caliper upgrade seems to have a huge impact on the way the car stops...

Stoptech rotors will help, but not as much as changing your pads like Chuck said

Actually, here's more to review. Help you stop quicker, and by using the rears more, you aren't over-using the fronts. I'm also a fan of B#3 pads.
