SRT10 vs 98-99 GTS coupe

What are the major differences in the driving aspect? I have driven the 98 gts coupe and am now considering going for an srt10 instead. Is the power difference noticeable? Suspension differences? Is the roof manual or automatic?

The srt-10 is a better car under the skin (aka, brakes, suspension, HP) but the GTS has it beat when it comes to looks.

Go with what you like. IMO, either car is more than most can handle anyway and unless you track the car at it's limit...who cares if one or the other is +-.3 seconds faster.

Performance-wise the SRT/10 owns a GTS. Looks-wise is a different matter.

The ragtop is manual.

Re: SRT10 vs 98-99 GTS coupe

depends on the driver. I know a certain GTS out here, 98 with just exhaust that will hand ANY SRT10 with the same setup their ass....

I am a big fan of the GTS as for looks and potential with the better motor. The SRT10 is definately more refined as for ABS and interrior etc. Ideally it would be nice to have a SRT10 with a built motor and turbos but when you can just throw turbos on the GTS with the stock motor, I think that is the way to go. But what do I know

the srt owns it in EVERY perfomance catergory, and with its antiquated interior and little wheels, its hard to justify the GTS, but it does look nice

Re: SRT10 vs 98-99 GTS coupe

I went with what really got me excited. Everytime I open my garage door and see my car I say "Damn, that's a sweet ass car!" I usually want the newest style, newest technology etc., but in the case of a Viper... I'm not going to track the car and the srt-10 is nice, but there are a few things I don't like. Go with which one gets you excited to own a Viper. It'll make writting that check every month a lot easier.

Re: SRT10 vs 98-99 GTS coupe

I have to find a nice one and take it out for a ride. I would expect the newer models (SRT) to be better but I guess I need to try it out to justify the extra expense. When they came out, I wasn't fond of the look but they grew on me this year and I actually get excited as seeing the GTS. The SRT looks amazing in black.

Thanks for the feedback, it is what I thought.
