Re: frt. lic. plate blues

Its funny this comes up.

So far as of late , there is a bill waiting to get passed on this issue.
The government wants to cut spending and deems it nessecary to cut LP production.

We should know by the first of next year if this happens .
Stick it out if you can and try to avoid the bastard.

I dont have one on both my cars and will Never add one to them.
Stupid law. I think MADD is the one who envoked this shit
to begin with. Is a cop going to pull my over in reverse??

Re: frt. lic. plate blues

I personally wouldnt bother...how much is a no front plate ticket where you are??...can't be too much...if anything....isnt there a bracket for the Viper that just sticks on or something??...i would pick one up and if you get a ticket you could put it on to go to court and maybe get out of the ticket...or even when you get pulled over tell the cop you have it in the back just havnt had a chance to put it on yet...I would ditch the front plate on my Mustang but Ford thought it would be cool to mold a nice liscence plate sized indent in the front bumper that looks horrible without a plate installed....

Re: frt. lic. plate blues

Yeah, front plates are the anti-Christ to a car lover. Fortunately we don't have them here in TN, but that doesn't stop some idiot dealers from drilling the bumper on every car they get in and putting their dealer ad/plate on the front. I remember a few years ago being at the Porsche dealership in Atlanta, one of the largest in the country (and GA also doesn't require front plates), and they had drilled every car in their showroom and put their dealer plate on the front, including a couple of $125k 911 turbos. Someone should have been horsewhipped for such a crime against nature, IMO.

Well, I agree they're better than holes but they still suck IMO. I've had the front facias repainted on 2 or 3 cars in the past just to get rid of the holes/plugs.

That is the PartsRack item:

"Attach a front license plate without having to drill or damage your front fascia. This holder attaches securely to the front of your Viper with rubber barbs. Install or remove in 30 seconds!"

Re: frt. lic. plate blues

you got a fix it ticket that needs to be signed off. Fuck it bro, dont spend money and buy a front plate holder kit. Just rig it yourself, cuz all you need to do is get that ticket signed off, by someone at the local PD. nd then take it off when your at home again. Thats what Ive done before, and never had that shit happen to me twice.

Re: frt. lic. plate blues

Sorry, but if one lives in an area where this issue is enforced on a regular basis....it makes perfect sense to spend the whopping $40 just to have the damn thing in the back of the car. Then, if one were to get pulled over, they could tell the officer that they do actually have the plate and mount....and that it just recently fell off and they plan to fix it as soon as they get home. This way, at least if there happens to be a cop, (or 300) who goes out of their way to remember the Viper Owner without the front plate....they'll remember that you actually made the effort. Why take the chance that the same cop (or 300) will remember the last time you were without a front plate....and then they take offense (as they do at times), and then they figure you are just throwing it back in their face. $40 is cheap insurance...right up there with the old "I have a bracket on order, wanna see the receipt?".

Re: frt. lic. plate blues

I have the front plate permanently mounted on my Viper. I got sick of being pulled over and looking in my rear view mirror to see if cop was going to turn around every time I passed one and beleive it or not, as ugly as you think the plate might be, my car still actually gets some looks. I don't need the hassle. I hope you at least get the removable bracket.

I got a ticket in that car when I owned it. I got some tape and stuck it on , took a pic, and took the pic to court and beat the ticket. I told them that Dodge did not make a front bracket and I made one myself. BTW how is she running these days? Do you use the NOS much?
