New Viper buyer needs help!
I was wondering if anybody could give me any advice on a Viper I am looking to purchase. I can buy a 1998 R/T 10 with only 6,500 miles for $42000. Red. no hardtop. Showroom new, he says. I have to drive 4 hours to get there. What questions do I need to ask him? Is that a good or great deal? Thanks for anybodys help.

take the car to a Viper tech in the area and have him check it out for you. Lots of things can go unforeseen only to become an issue once you've taken your new snake home. Also look for any inconsistencies where the body lines meet. Any irreguolarities might mean the Viper was in a wreck or had some damage of some sort.

good luck

Is $42,000 a wholesale number on the 1998 Viper r/t 10 with 6500 miles or closer to retail. The soft top has never been used.

Where are you located? Maybe there is someone here that can help take a look at it with you. Kind of a "viper guide" if you will.

I am located in St. Louis Missouri and he is located 60 miles west of Chicago. I can't believe how helpful everybody is here. Thank you.
P.S. Is $42,000 a good deal with 6500 miles on a 1998 r/t 10 softtop? He is the 2nd owner of the car.

Why don't you go over to viperclub.org and look at their classifieds, too, for a comparison. I'd factor in -2000 for the lack of a hardtop.

I agree, factor in the lack of the hard top(softtop?) and offer $40K. That being said it still sounds like a good deal. You need to get ahold of Joe at PBJ. His number is 314-401-9946 and is a Viper tech. He is in the St. Loius area. :thumb:

I wonder how long it's been there?
