When Im at the stop light. My viper idles very low, and the car shakes a bit. Like the engine almost wants to cut out. I see that there is an adjustment screw on the shaft that connects to the 2 throttle bodies. Is that the proper way , to bring up the idle a little bit? By turning this screw? Thanks.
GTS Dean,
Thanks for your response. I have the same car as you. Blue with white stripes. Anyhow, is that how you fixed YOUR idling problem in the past? Thanks again,
Lee

The idle on a Viper is pretty low. If you have a blue/white stripe GTS it is either a 96 or 97. The lumpy cam years. My 96 GTS idles at around 500 rpm's, so it may seem pretty low when compared to other cars in general if you're not ised to it. Maybe there is actually nothing wrong with your Viper.

The first tic mark on the tach is 500rpm. The cars are set to idle at about 742rpm.
I have a 95 and at 4K miles, mine started wanting to stall out when I pressed in the clutch. I removed the IAC (2 screws) and whatever the heck screws into the airbox in front of it with an electrical connection to it. I cleaned it with a clean cloth, screwed it back in and plugged in the connection. I took the IAC in half (2 more screws) and used sensor safe throttle body cleaner all over the inside. You have to take the IAC apart to clean it right! I was amazed at how much stuff was in there. I really took my time getting it perfect and new. Then I removed the tubes and held open the butterfly's and spend another crazy amount of time with the cleaner getting any chance of deposit build up off the inside as it was hard to work around the plates and get everything out. I even used a toothbrush. They looked brand new when done as I could insert a white t-shirt and nothing was on it. Then I synched up the TB's (mine is a gen1).
OK, all of this probably took one hour since I was so determined to rule out this as my problem. Sure enough, it was it and has been perfect since.
