They posted that pic on nsxprime about a year ago promising a release date in a few weeks and still nothing yet. They actually have a better looking design, but as Lucifer said, rice.
Ok, I'm with you guys, they aren't the best looking wheels out there. But what do you have against using better, stronger and lighter materials to help your car handle better? I mean just have the wheels painted if you don't like the looks of CF, I like the idea of carbonfiber, I wonder why so many parts used in Formula 1 racing cars are made out of carbonfiber... :thumb:
To me Ricey look would be a carbonfiber look-a-like sticker applied to your wheels, the real thing is great stuff in my book!
I thought carbon fiber broke easier than other metals with impact? Maybe why it is not in wheels in F1?
I have a friend who works with Space shuttles and aeroplanes and his a real pro when it comes to using right materials in the right place. He said CF can stand a lot more beating than normal alloy wheels on all kinds of driving, but one thing they are notorious bad about is sharp impacts such as stone chip that might cause a minor crack to the sheet and from there on it would loose its rigidy and it would be pretty much useless.
But my point here ia, that Viper to me is not a daily driver, it won't see any driving in snow. So when it comes to getting the best handling out of the car on a road course, less weight would be my choice. Still not too keen about the particular wheel shown above, but I just like the idea. :thumb:
its my understanding that they can hold up pretty well in an impact, but any harder, and the wheels just shatter.. like if the wheel is less likely to break but when it does, its utterly(sp?) destroyed
