Install prices on headers / exhaust ??

Anyone have some insight on average install prices for headers and catback ? I could do the catback myself, but will probably just do a one stop shop sort of thing. I'm just trying to get a ball park figure on install prices.

Anyone know a competant tech in DFW that could do the install ? I'd prefer a experienced tech over just shopping for someone via the phone book.

Thanks for any insight in advance.

You can do this yourself! It makes a great weekend project and you will feel good knowing you did this on your own

If you dont feel confident with installing something of this magnitude, then i would expect to pay at least 6-8 hours of labor for the both.

I could definitely do it, but I've admittingly gotten lazy over the years. I am just trying to get a ballpark figure and weigh the cost/time involved for me to do it myself versus having it done.

Just by changing the plugs/plug wires I've noticed there isn't a whole lotta space under that huge hood....the pass side looking like it would be the most troublesome.

I may still do it myself, but I know if would happen faster if I just take it somewhere.

Wesman, did you ever do this job? I was thinking of tying it myself this weekend, I've got to swap the header and manifolds from one car to another so its going to take me twice as long, although book time only shows 2 hours labor to R_+R headers.. anyone ever do this to a GENII car?

I have heard good things about Velocity in Dallas. The owners driver Vipers.

Not bad at all. Take the hood off and the HVAC unit. Buy a good set of gaskets too.

I did headers, exhaust and hi flow cats in about 6 hours. This included jacking the car up, sanding the Jet-hot on the primary tubes so they would slide in the collector, cuting the cats to fit, and installing a rear exhaust trim plate. I typically work slow too because I am an anal bastard.

Re: Install prices on headers / exhaust ??

Well I wish some of the DIY guys were near me...I'd happily pay to have someone do it with me. I have no problem tackling pretty much any job....I just need someone there with me for moral support....I'm liable to leave it sit in the garage for a month cause something pissed me off. :fist:

I still haven't gotten this done....breaking down the SC'd 350z and parting it out for sale, the Lightning's built tranny went south...lost second gear....so this is the least of my car worries right now.
