Tranny gremlins - Ideas?

After sitting parked for about any length of time, I put the car in reverse and let the clutch out. The shifter either moves rearward slightly or not at all, then the gearset burrs.

I figure it could be one of the following:

1) worn shifter - still stock after 9 years and 26k miles
2) worn/bent reverse fork - 3rd tranny in 9 years ('bout 11k miles on this one)
3) worn clutch - 11k miles

Anyone experience similar issues?

Same issue in a past car was #2. Didn't you say you had a linkage or cable problem when I was having mine fixed?

A worn out clutch in my '94 caused me to occasionally be completely locked out of reverse.

I think the car had around 12K miles on it when I replaced the clutch.

Mine got a bent shift fork when I let someone do a session in my car at Thunderhill, and it had the similar symptoms as you describe - as well as hard shifting, especially when cold - but mine was a 1st gear problem, not reverse.
